I have a right carry on with socks...I think my knee joints are swollen and might have something to do with it...I'll look out for the gadget(even shoes can be a problem) but those trainers with velcro straps and slip on shoes help.

The sock thing to help put 'em on is called actiglide, and you get them from chemist's, only reason I know is because both Dad and OH have to wear suport sock's.hth.

Pops, I live alone - during term time I make a small slow cooker full of stew or pea & ham casserole type stuff - it makes four or five meals depending on what I put with it, and when it's ready and I've had my first meal out of it, I just let the SC cool then bung it in the fridge for the week.

I do this because I have a very small freezer and a lazy attitude to getting stuff out to have for tea - I don't mind having the same thing every night either.

Byatt I can't offer any practical advice as it's just not my area of expertise at all, but i hope it can be sorted with the minimum of stress. I'm sure you'll get some better advice soon.

Byatt:- :grouphug: I think you should fill in the form and post it and then you have at least done something. These unhelpful pen-pushers working for the government don't seem to give a damn. I think if you are still ill and it's 6 months since your last claim, you can start a new claim and send in [STRIKE]sick[/STRIKE]fit notes. The system seems to be designed to make people give up and not fight for what they are entitled to. I'm so sorry that you have go through all this hassle when you have so much else going on. Please take care of your self as well as your DD and sister.

Byatt: Oh yes. They can stop benefits without warning. I know someone who had his HB stopped with no notification whatsoever. He was appalled when the baliffs arrived to evict him because his rent had not been paid for 3 months. The council told him that they were under no obligation to tell him anything! Fortunately when it went to court the judge gave the council a right telling off.

Pooky: My brother, many years ago, told my Dad that his friend was getting a bike if he passed the 11+ and what could he expect. Dad said to wait and see what he'd get if he didn't pass. He passed.

Kidcat: Give up. You'll never fathom out the system for getting a Dr's appointment. I hate it when they say, "Is it an emergency?" I always say,"Not yet."

Just had my Daughter-in -Law in. She's got 5 weeks to go until she gives birth so is feeling fat, tired and bored. She is such a sweetie I do hope every thing goes well for her. She's done marvels with getting stuff ready for the baby. I don't think she has paid full price for anything. Everything has been donated, ebayed or is a sales bargain. I've contented myself with knitting a baby blanket and am hoping to get a cot quilt made before the event. Goodness knows when unless I give up sleeping.

I'm just off to perform miracles with a cauli, 2 leeks, 3 carrots and 3 leftover sausages. Cauli and leeks in cheese sauce and the rest as is, I think.

Kidcat I can't see it now either. Hope you are OK Byatt.

Monnogran, I can see I'm going to have to search my freezer a bit more! Fingers crossed for your daughter in law. I well remember that feeling, I was induced 3 times when I was at 42 weeks with DS and he still didn't want to come out. I'd been in hospital a week by that point (blood pressure issues) and boy was I fed up. A c-section was a blessed relief in the end. I think time stands still for first-time pregnant women.

Aldi red label tea bags - those who like PG Tips, do you like these? I'm not having any luck at getting to Sainsburys for their basics ones and Mar is going to beat me at this rate.

We ate stuff from 2009 last week possession, in fact we have moved house twice with some of our freezer contents :)

Byatt I hope you are ok ((hugs))

Monnagran - last few weeks of pregnancy are awful, I went 4 weeks over with DS14 after a mix up of dates and I swear I would have killed the next person who said "are you still here then" GRRRRRR! thankfully the other three were all early, DD17 by induction with pre-eclampsia, DS8 - I had an accident so was induced and DD6 I had to be induced due to my back. I went into hiding when I was over 38 weeks with DS as I couldnt take it any more.

My GP refused to see me but relented and gave me painkillers at least - she must be feeling guilty as she has given me 100 which will last me ages if I am careful.
