UC won't stop it (2K a month is still a whack and half) - in fact I'm expecting people to take full advantage of the UC rules (ie work bare minimum so working and therefore the cap won't fit.

But you are 100% right - where is the incentive for the like's of Op's daughter to remain in education, work and provide her and her child a living. Benefits is easier and more lucrative.

They really need to make benefits low (much lower than now) where they are given houses they really don't want, where the standard of living is so low it really is a last resort. Until they do situations like this will continue.

They award each week iro of £90 for each new baby...

Child tax credit is £2,690 per year, around £52 a week per child. Plus for the first child, child benefit of £20.30 per week. Each consecutive child adds £13.40 per week of child benefit.

A parent/family with one child would receive around £72 per week.
And for each additional child would receive an extra £65 per week.

Not quite £90 for each new baby.

a mother on with four children can get about £600 per week including CHB HB CTC and I.S, plus benefits, school meals dentist etc

To claim £600 per week, rent would have to be around £1000 a month. Outside of the London area, I doubt many mothers with four children qualify for an LHA rate that high. Is £1000 per month a reasonable rent to pay for a below average house?

Presuming the mother of four is over 25, she would only receive just over £300 per week of actual cash.

Is the goverment to blame then, is it encouraging single young girls to go down the route.
    And what can be done?
And will universal credit stop it.

The proposed £500 per week benefit cap might make London unaffordable for a lot of people.

Yeah, she'll be receiving a whopping £128.25 in cash per week to splash out on her and the baby, very lucrative.

£128.25 per week is a lot of money! How many people who work receive that amount in cash after paying mortgage/rent/Council tax?

Plus other benefits (Sure Start grants, healthy start grants) etc.

there seems to be this thing these days about having sex as early in your life as possible. Parents should be teaching their kids to stay away from it until they are adult otherwise face the consequences with them afterwards

Not all parents will have the time to do that though, theres been a thing with teenagers having sex so young for years but cant imagine what the attraction is except the amount of cash you get off the government.

I'm afraid to say if you haven't got time as a parent to tell your kids things like this (i.e. look after them) you should not have had them. No matter what else is going on in your life you make time for your kids and all that entails.

You are right - when you add together all the "benefits" you would get little change from a £20,000 salary, and much more in expensive areas.

I.S for a mother and four children including chb is £408.50.a week
£65 per child plus £20.30 chb ok not quite £90 :(

so how can CTC pay less for the children then, there would be an out cry.

when we convert them over to CTC they lose no benefit, its pound for pound the same entitlement

Rent and coucil tax on a three bed property may not then be £200 per week
    in some arears
    but close I would say
any ideas how much HB they would be entitled to then ??

And i totally agree with what your saying, parents should make time for they're kids but there are those that don't.

They would receive full HB/ LHA - that amount would depend on how many bedrooms they are entitled to, and the area they live in.
