The way I see it if you're gonna pay 100s of thousands on a house purchase, which can be one of the most stressful things you do, why do you wanna fart around over a couple of hundred quid by choosing some 2-bob online conveyancing company, whom once they receive your instructions and payment wont care much about your transaction, and your file will just be left on a sheft along with hundreds of others.
The amount of times people's testimonials state that the person dealing with their case simply "left the firm" midway through and that no one know's what's going on, tells you all you need to know.
I'm sure there's many satisfied customers with these online cheapo's but some of the horror stories put me off my dinner.0 -
I can thoroughly recommend this firmhttp://www.stephensons.co.uk/site/services/individuals/srvhouse/conveyancing/sale#
I've used them twice now, the first time I was selling and the buyer pulled out ontheday of exchange. I only lost £8.
The second tine was as a buyer, everything went smoothly even though they're in Leeds and I'm in south London.
There were no hidden fees.
I've used these clowns. Calls never returned, voice mails ignored, documents never forwarded. Shocking service. Just a glorified admin call centre.
Use a local solicitor. You can call in to sign papers. drop in any documents, pay fees etc.0 -
The price is good, the service is AWFUL and may result in you LOSING your purchase or sale.
If you want cheap conveyancing, to be kept in the dark and want to let your mind wander as to whether or not your sale/purchase will go through...... then this is the company for you.
I was dealing with them for a purchase and at first they were more than helpful before any money was paid. Once I paid, it all went downhill from there...
Firstly, my conveyancer retired two weeks into my purchase and I was not told this. I tried contacting him via email (as they tell you this is the best way to contact them) to not receive an out of office or anything to say "I've retired and you need to contact..." After trying for a week, I rang them and was put on hold for 35 minutes to finally be put through to someone and told he had retired and my case would passed over to another conveyancer. I was given her details, but told she was too busy and to email her. I emailed her to not hear anything for another few days. I then receive an email telling me she was too busy and my case would be passed over to another conveyancer. Again, she was too busy to takes phone calls and this time she didn't even have a telephone number - I was told to email her. I emailed this person numerous times to have never heard anything back.
Over the past few weeks, I have tried to contact Action Conveyancing every day and not been successful. I've emailed the reception, the general info address and anyone else I could find... I've called the various telephone numbers and never spoken to anyone but the automated service. You simply get the message that they are dealing with high call volumes and to press a button for a certain person - no matter what button you press, it rings and you get told that they are busy on a call or dealing with a case and to try again later. The automated system then hangs up. If you are lucky enough to get placed into the queue, then good for you. I managed this three times (and I don't know how as I pressed the same buttons as I did to get hung up on) and never managed to speak to anyone. Yesterday I was placed seventh in the queue and on hold for an hour, to then have the phone answered and put straight back down on me! I was then placed on hold again and the phone didn't get answered for another 30 minutes - I hung up at this point and sent some more emails to the addresses I had.
During my purchase, I have only seen one email to the vendors solicitors requesting information that I then saw the response back saying they had already been sent it twice previously. I know they did the searches, but apart from that, I don't know what else they have done as I can't get in touch with them.
My house purchase has fallen through due to this company and I would not use them again.
I cannot even get my money back using their "No completion, no fee" quote, as I can't get through to them.
When you look at this company and read some of the poor reviews, you will probably be in the same mind as me and think "my purchase/sale should be fine, as it's straight forward and I've already got everything in place." Mine was really straight forward, I had everything I needed and did everything when needed. I've purchased other houses before and never had any issues.
I urge you not to use these people.

Please DO NOT USE BPL SOLICITORS IN DORCHESTER!
They are part of the IConvey group. We are in a process of writing a formal complaint to them, which we will escalate to the Law Society's Ombudsman. The sheer hell they put us through is beyond words! They are incompetent, disorganised and unprofessional.
They nearly cost us the sale of the property as on the day of exchange they had no one available to do the work. The buyer was furious and threatened to pull out. We had to get very aggressive with them to get them to actually handle the exchange and completion, and once this was finallydone, we struggled to get the £14 000 balance owed to us. We chased them for over a week to get the money sent to us, and I threatened to personally drive over two hours to their offices and remove the money from them, one way or the other.....
They have an 0845 number, which costs a fortune from a mobile, and they are difficult to get on the phone.
Please stay well clear of: BPL SOLICITORS AND ICONVEY!0 -
Action Conveyancing were supposed to be dealing with my house sale for me, and received 10% of the proceeds from the sale from the purchaser's solicitors as a deposit. How do I go about getting this money back now that they have ceased trading?
Thanks,
