My OH is a mechanic and used to work in a garage where the boss had been married for 20 years, had a 21 year old daughter to his wife but also had been having an affair with another woman for 19 years, and they now have a 20 month old son together.
The other woman knows he is married and has a daughter but still accepted his “proposal” and wears an engagement ring! She also works 4 days a week in the garage and brings the baby in most days who sits there shouting “daddy, daddy!”. The whole garage and neighbouring pub where they all drink know about the situation and in the past he has had to shoo the mistress and baby out the back door because his wife or daughter has made a surprise visit!
Also her father thinks they are getting married next year and has no idea that his “future son in law” has another family!
Oh and the man in question is 51 now and his bit on the side is 36, he has been with her since she was 17!
TBH I have a feeling that his wife knows but chooses to turn a blind eye for whatever reason!0 -
Firstly I hope all has gone well for the OP.
Secondly I have been in the position where my best friend's wife confided in me that she was having an affair some 6 months into married life. They should never have got married in the first place, but that's another story. She swore me to secrecy which was a total nightmare. My best friend had cheated on her before they married but they had counselling and decided to put it all behind them so the wedding went ahead with the slate wiped clean, so to speak.
I was getting married myself a couple of weeks later so was fairly stressed with it all and my best friend was out of the country, and this was before mobile phones were as common as they are now so I didn't have much choice but to go along with her. When he returned, he rang me and was really depressed about the state of his marriage and how hard he was trying and she just didn't seem to care. I couldn't take any more so whilst I didn't tell him outright, I hinted very heavily until he said "Are you telling me she's having an affair with X?" to which I replied "yes". There was a silence, then I asked if he was ok and apologised profusely. He was a bit shocked but was ok and later called me back to thank me. I was really upset but he reassured me that it wouldn't affect our friendship, and indeed 15 years later, it hasn't.
The *happy ending* is that they divorced a few months later and the person with whom he had cheated before the doomed marriage has been his wife for the last 12 years; they are very happy and we all [him, his wife, me & my DH and our kids] get on brilliantly.
Good luck OP - been there, done that and come out the other side x0 -
Yes Lottie, I would be surprised if his wife didn't know - she surely would have seen or heard something by now!
Another example of real life - my ex-husband married for the first time when he was very young, and his wife was pregnant when they married. Little did she know that he had also got someone else pregnant around the same time! His son is only about 5 months older than his daughter. Neither of them knew about each other, but fortunately for him the "other" lady moved to Scotland and he never heard from her again, or has ever seen his son.
I don't lead a colourful life, but I suppose a fair bit has happened one way or another, some of it reads like a book.
Sorry to hijack your thread OP - we are just filling in time waiting for an update!0 -

My friend got chatting to a "lovely" man on a night out and things were progressing very quickly. He asked if they could go back to her place when his friend stepped in and told her that the bloke's wife had given birth to their first child earlier that day and he was looking for someone to "celebrate" with.0 -

In what way is that "fortunate" - for anyone? :huh:Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

I have an aquaintance who was living with a woman a few years his senior & he suddenly ran off to set up home with her 16 year old daughter.
He also started up a relationship with another woman at around the same time & set up home with her too, they both ended up living literally round the corner from each other & both became pregnant & had his babies.
This is how he worked it ... he spent 3 nights a week at each house & the other at his mum's, but he told each woman that his mum needed him & that he spent 4 nights a week with her. Of course neither of them ever met the mum, who knew nothing of his domestic arrangements.
Inevitably it all unravelled, & he was confronted by both of them sitting waiting for him in his local & they made him choose, but of course he continued as usual behind their backs.
He was found out again & was made to choose again & had to stick to his decision because they were wise to his tricks by now.
6 months later the deserted one won millions on the lottery& moved to the other side of the world. The one he was with, met someone else younger & with a job (did I mention this man was long-term unemployed by choice?) & took off with him.
If I didn't actually know this person, I wouldn't believe the story, but it goes to show such situations are more common than you'd think.0 -
I know a woman whose "partner" had a child (with a disability) with her whilst living with her -then started an affair with another woman -got her pregnant -left the first -moved in with the second -had another child with her -moved back in with the first-and had another child with the second one -Telling GF1 that the new baby wasn't his but GF2 needed his support as the father had left her. Eventually GF2 dumped him. He moved back in with GF1 and started a long term relationship with GF3 -stayed with her Friday to Sunday every weekend telling GF1 he was either out with his mate or staying at his Mums. To cover his tracks he told the most incredible lies -claimed one or other child was in hospital, family illness or funerals the web of lies was incredible. He even wanted another child with GF3 -she found him out when she called GF1 as she had been leaving "odd for an ex" messages on his phone to ask her to stop. GF1 was furious -and insisted that it couldn't be true and of course it was normal for her BF to be elsewhere every weekend and how she trusted him utterly and how "Other people have tried to split us up before with lies like this" .
GF3 left them to get on with it (and was very relieved she hadn't agreed to his baby suggestion) and as far as I know he's still "with" GF1 and playing the same games and she's still in denial. Ironically GF1 is a very sweet and incredibly beautiful woman and could do a lot better. I dread to think what will happen when the kids are old enough to see through him (His own father did the same -and he was the only one out of six kids who still had a relationship with him -his brothers and sisters wanted nothing to do with him).

This is obviously how he thought grown-up life should be, following his father's example!0
