  • Tesco Value soft cheese is delish.

Not quite sure if it's what you'd need on a cheesecake, but you could spread it on those little cheesy biscuits and feed them to me and I'm make gentle purring noises.

I found the value brands I tried very watery and kind of bitter so I didn't buy them again.

To make a big cheesecake I put a couple of 125 g tubs of cream cheese (usually supermarket brand) in with a 500 g pot of the 10% fat Greek yoghurt and mix. I find the result is just about right for taste and if you put it in the fridge overnight it sets nicely so that it's soft but you can slice it neatly too. I've always made it this way just because I like it, but comparing the cost of yoghurt to cream cheese, it must be a lot cheaper too.

I never ever buy the expensive brands anymore - MrT Value soft cheese is absolutely fine for everything - I had a late night snack of Value cream cheese with a slice of smoked salmon last night :D Heyyyyy with what I save buying cheap cheese, I can afford treats more often :D
  • I work at sainsburys and buy a lot of the basic range. Jaffa cakes, baked beans, and washing powder, tomatoes fresh and tinned, In fact OH is always complaining that he doesn't know what anything is as it all looks the same, white packets tins with orange writing.
