Tesco Oaklane tatare sauce is revolting!
Best things are Custard Creams (not OS but reminds me of my childhood)
Totally agree!!!
The TarTar Sauce is Horrid. Sainsbury's does a nice one... and I pay more for it because I am just fussy! We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't know if anyone else has said but the value xmas crackers are OK, only cost me a pound and the jokes, hats and trinkets are the same as those in the crackers costing 2.5 or 3 times as much.
A bit late now but worth thinking about for next year.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -

Tuna chunks are okay.
Sainsbury's Basic Tuna is LOVELY! I fail to find a basic product I don't like in Sainsbury's.
But has anyone tried Tesco's 'Bargain' ranges? the Mermaid tuna is nice, and cheaper then the rest!
they also have Oak Lane is the range (Love the beans and ketchup, the biscuits are nice) and they have Trattoria for italian type foods, such as tomatoes, pasta etc.
The prices vary, but I find many are the same as value, or if they cost more they are worth the extra money!!!
I will second the bargain ranges. It can be a bit hit and miss, but I'm a big fan of the Trattoria tinned tomatoes that I mentioned in my previous post. Lovely and thick, would buy them over branded.
A couple of new value items to add to my list...
Good: Rice pudding - DH loved it, makes a cheap and filling pud. Think he's going to go through a lot of this over the next few months! :rotfl:
Bad: Yorkshire puddings - Really small and tasted too oily. They were edible, but wouldn't buy again.0 -
Sainsbury's basics chopped tomatoes (in the boxes) are very good and at 33p per box a complete bargain. Basics Rich Tea biscuits are also ok. Not quite as good with a cuppa as the real ones but they do make nice rocky road. Sainsbury's basics popcorn is also really good and keeps ds happy.Sealed pot member 735

Well my mum cooks for me, so the grocery shopping is mostly left to my parents, however, I prefer the tesco value spaghetti/spaghetti hoops etc instead of heinz...I commented to my mum saying that I didn't really like them one day and then she told me that's because she had bought heinz instead for a change.....so pretty much on a blind taste test, I preferred tesco value stuff!
we buy tesco value pork pies, tinned products, ooooh and I love the tesco value foam fruits sweets! so we do get a few value things & really enjoy them, but of course some aren't amazing......

Just discoved Sainsburys Basic laundry liquid. Its about 98p for a bottle.
You have to search for it though, Bottom shelf in the corner.0 -
Tesco value porridge oats. They are fantastic. Great for porridge, cooking and baking. Much prefer these to more expensive brands. I tend to stock up on a few bags when they have them in as they are often out of stock in our Tesco so guess they must be popular!0

I'd recommend the 'extracts' brand in tesco, it's one of their 'bargain' brands I think?! they do vanilla bath & shower stuff and they smell lush! i'd say they smell more like custard doughnuts than vanilla, but heck, they still smell edible! and they're a nice price too0
