Using up breakfast cereal

It would make a nice brakfast muffin, you could even stick a couple of mushed up bananas in it. If you're nervous, soak it in a wee bit of milk before baking but it should be tasty. There is a thread for cereal bars too, I'm sure someone posted a similar question fairly recently about using up cereal which was merged into that, just search cereal bars in thread titles. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

That's a great idea Jackie - I'll give those a go this week, thank you.
Have just used up the 'half' bag using my favourite flapjack recipe (previously posted here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=8626459&postcount=263)
I left out the sugar, added some sultanas and as it was rather 'sloppy' I added some porridge oats to soak up the 'juice' and put it in the oven for 15 mins.
Will report back0 -
Definetly try adding it to muffins, I also add oats and any leftover berries to the muffin batter0

Hi Amanda,
As your thread has dropped down the board and you've found a use for the clusters I've added your thread to the existing one to keep the suggestions together.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can make with a mixture of left over cereals which have gone a bit soft ( lovely kiddies keep leaving packs open) I have 5 boxes half used of frosties, corn flakes, shredded wheat, rice pops and shreddies.
I am very reluctant to just throw away.
Thanks in advance0 -
You could try spreading them on a baking sheet and popping into a hot oven for 10 minutes to crisp up again. It works for biscuits so I think it might work for cereal too.If I'm over the hill, where was the top?0

I've often done that over the years with the leftovers from the packets.
Then I've mixed it all up (scrunching the Shredded Wheat up) & made chocolate 'Rice Krispie' (+ other bits!) cakes.
If you've a lot of Shredded Wheat they make great chocolate birds nests for those little Easter Eggs you can get. :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0 -
Hi - not sure how to do links but if you go onto the recipe index on the February grocery challenge and look under the cakes, biscuits etc section there are quite a few recipes for cereal type bars.
Happy Baking!
Oh and don't take this the wrong way but maybe you need to find a way to teach your children to fold over the edges of the cereal packets so that this doesn't happen again.
My children used to do the same so I got some large metal clips (like stationary clips) and put them on top. They didn't seem to mind putting them on.0
