Yeah; what IS it with boys drawing phalluses?! Girls don't (or, at least, none of my friends ever did or do) draw THEIR intimate bits all over the place, but at my secondary school there wasn't a single corridor or classroom that didn't possess one or more graffiti "Pirate of Menzpants", in various stages of arousal... :naughty:

Mind you, considering the Cerne Abbas Giant (http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/cerne-giant/)... perhaps we're basically the same as our prehistoric ancestors... Do men actually evolve? Now THERE'S a question for Michael Gove's new-style Philosophy O Level... ;)
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: well to be fair puberty and hormones for a boy involves much more "pleasure" for boys than it does for girls.

Boys get horny as hell and think about sex all the time, girls get periods and the pain that goes along with it. No wonder boys are obsessed with the penis, and no wonder girls don't want to think too much about their bits because at that age they give them little pleasure!

That is exactly what happened with me.

My daughter said the same last year and I said no, and we got her dress from T.K. Maxx, she loved it at the time but when she heard and saw the girls talk about their 'princess' dresses and how much they cost she was not happy, I did not give in though and I thought she looked just as good as them if not better!! (Well I would!!).I wish I could put a picture of her on here but I would not do that to her.

I have told her that when she earns her own money if she wants to spend £100s of pounds on a dress that will be up to her. In fact she had enough money in her account to do this anyway but chose not to.

I bet your daughter looked the best of the lot of them.

And the other girls who made her feel somehow "inadequate" because their parents spent more on fabrics and fittings would do well to remember that it REALLY doesn't matter how much money you fling at it; more expensive kit does not make ANYONE a nicer or more likeable person.

As the old saying goes, you can't polish a turd.

This is true; didn't think about that!

I still don't get the whole drawing it everywhere thing though. But I suppose, at least, that it's a creative expression of the visual arts, so good luck to the lads! :D

DD/DS's school do this on the last day of primary school. I'm not sure why because they're all going to the same comp!! :rotfl:

DS and his friend signed the shirt of one of his year six "buddies" last July when he was leaving for comp - DS was in Reception at the time!! :D

    Jx

yes, everyone signing your t-shirt is a leaving-primary school thing here too, my DD's turn this year :).

This thread has made me feel very old and how things are so very different now. My last day at school was my last Higher exam. The next day I returned my text books and have never been back since! No school dance or anything else. As the shy one with no real friends I doubt I would have gone even if there had been though! :o:(
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Obviously we are in the same country! I was the same, we didn't have any sort of leaving dance, the only thing we ever had was a christmas dance and that involved Scottish county dancing! I'm guessing the prom thing has been imported from America, but it doesn't sit right me with me, all I can think of is Pretty in Pink!

Girls do it too...my son is a teacher and he came home last week incensed because someone had drawn a large willie on his classroom posters. I laughed;) and asked was it the the lad who was the class clown, he said it was a girl:rotfl:

Hehe, bad girl! But still doesn't pose an answer - even the GIRL drew boy-bits; NOT girl-bits!

I wonder if this may help to explain Native Americans' Totem Poles...?!

I said the same thing right at the beginning of this thread but was told:
Whilst the name may be Americanised, the concept is certainly not new - private schools have been having school balls for decades.

Guess who didn't go to a private school? :rotfl::rotfl:
