Can ebuyer really be selling fake dvd players? A company that size cant be, can they?
It seems they are not now quoting them as 'eltax' in the product description, its legally sound as in 'ive got a lovley bunch of couconuts...NOT called eltax' but i was quite tempted to put in a 'comment' in their review section highlighting the 'fake' warning (above). Let's see if the 'review' section follows the change of description?! :A0 -
Hi Guys,
I wonder if anyone can advise me. I've been looking at these dvd players mentioned and am looking for one that will play data discs burnt through nero, i have many of these discs with 5 or 6 movies on each and am looking for a dvd player that will definitely play them. Thanks in advance for any tips)

Has anyone had trouble with the USB port not working on the Eltax 254.Cannot get it to select USB as source through menu.Option greyed out.Is this me being silly or is it a return time.Cheers D.
Dusty, check which format the drive is you are trying to play, My player for some reason will not pick up NTFS but will play FAT320 -
There seems to now be a huge number of different choices of cheap DivX players out there... Could someone please tell me, from their own personal experience of purchasing one, which they would recommend and why? Cheers!0

I have the sigmatek xs-700 pro from Pixmania.
its a nice looking black machine, 5.1 and l/r audio outs.
USB and card reader on the front, there is Svid/composite/scart and HDMI on the back.
I bought it for £40.50 delivered.
its multi region
it plays divx files burnt to a CD or DVD-/+r is ISO (not UDF) format.
it plays MPGS the same way, it took a logik 2gb mp3 player formatted in both FAT and FAT32 but not NTFS. NTFS is primarily a windows based format and not really used much on mobile storage devices.
However I also have a 250gb media hard disk player in FAT32 and I tried it in HD mode (as opposed to media player mode) and it played fine through the USB port on the player.
So yeah, the only problem I've found so far is that its very sensetive as far as dvds cos and I have to make sure they're very clean.
but its so far played everything including some dvds that my old packard bell dvd-divx350 machine wouldnt even look at never mind play.:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -

havent tried mpeg4 or h.264 cos i havent gotten any files in those formats.
the usual ones I download are in avi (divx or xvid) and other places like a coupla stores on Ebay have the same one but are maybe £15-20 more expensive.
Pixmania arent the best, mine took exactly a week to arrive and it comes with a european 2pin plug on and an adapter.
not that its really a problem cos they give you the adapter.
it looks great on HDMI on my 32" AOC lcd.
and multi region too:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -
They really ought to be re badged to make them generics then,so not to lead to any confusion, and i'm sure when i first looked at the link to it said Eltax DV-254 and not Ebuyer DV-254
rebadge would have been nice but it would have no doubt added £5 to the price..... ill stick to mine saying eltax but knowing its not supported by them.
