I received the 2700X mentioned earlier on Friday. It has played the DVDs I have tried, so far, but when I put anything into the USB port, the remote control stopped working, and it wouldn't read an external USB hard disk at all. When I try to run a movie from the card slot it keeps resetting the unit.
I have contacted SVP and am waiting their reply from my request for a refund, as I have a feeling these problems aren't a one off.

Just had this reply back from Eltax after emailing the link to ebuyer so they could check it out,so beware

    Dear Andrew

The product you have seen on ebuyer is a fake eltax product, and therefore Eltax A/S, Denmark will not be responsible for any product - warranty - patent - license and legal issues related to this product.

    Best regards

I've just orded one although my plasma is only 480p hopefully it will make me future proof + i really wanted USB input.

About the Eltax Warning, I've just read that Eltax made an order for these DVD players than cancelled the order..... so the factory has sold them of as generic players..

    -Tom

They really ought to be re badged to make them generics then,so not to lead to any confusion, and i'm sure when i first looked at the link to it said Eltax DV-254 and not Ebuyer DV-254

    Hi Squibby,

I'd be very interested in knowing how it performs, could you please post your review on here when it arrives? If possible, I'm interested to find out:

    * Does it play MPEG-4 and XviD also?
    * Does it play HD content (720p, 1080i) natively through HDMI, or does it upscale all content from PAL?

    Thanks!

Took delivery of this Eltax DV-254 last week. The USB port works for me. Ensure you don't have a disk and the player will detect that you are using a flash drive and show you contents from the drive. I'm using a 4GB Flash drive at the moment. Works really well. I'm very impressed considering it ws around £27 with google checkout.

Plays DivX files perfectly. Also shows photos I have from my SD card through the card reader. Really can't fault it for the price.
  • I'm split between getting this Eltax DVD player or the £40 Tevion/Technosonic one from woolies. Could someone please tell me..

    a) how good this is at converting NTSC to PAL? I know my Samsung did a great job with this.

    and

b)If it lets you resume discs after being put in standby and put back on, and if so, how many can it hold in memory? Or does it just resume the one you leave in?
