I find it's the constant rubbing that wears out the shoes, not the heat. And once it's sat with the handbrake on for 2 weeks, it would need a bit more than a new spring 40,000 miles ago.
i dont work for ferodo you know ! i can only simply advise by what i see day in day out, week in week out, if you want to take the advice or not is your decision

I've been changing them since before they took the abestos out, and you could buy the pads to rivet on yourself.

never seen riveted pads (there aren't any) - but linings on shoes, yes.

Thank you for all the help yesterday :)

Today I took my car to garage and left it there until lunch time, when I went in they said straight away that they do not think it is anything more than the fact I parked up so soon after driving through floods. They found there was nothing wrong at all and say I did the right thing by rocking it and trying move car forwards and backwards - it is what they would have done if I had called them out

So happy there was nothing wrong!

I have old shoes relined with special spec friction material by a guy who has the machine to do it. I *could* do it myself but it's for my race car not a road car so I prefer to avoid the risk of me c*cking it up !
