What am i talking about..? ROTFL I suspect i have forgotten more than you know about Gas Engineering..

i was refering to your statement at the end about pipe outside = cheaper gas, i'm sorry if you missed it as it was in with all the other stupid things you were saying.
Agreed..the butchers choice> Self cleaning flux..

self cleaning flux is not the butchers choice as you put it, come into the 21st century what do you do then still lead wipe a joint with willow & i bet you still use hemp & boss white on water pipe threads instead of ptfe, providing you clean the fittings afterwards there isn't a problem (& before you start wittering on i know there will still be residue inside the pipe & fittings), but i do agree that pipework is not a very good job & OP i would def get it checked to make sure it's ok, if it was my job i would cut out those damaged lenghts of tube & replace them.
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

OK cheaper gas. Are you familiar with the combined gas laws ? I appreciate that the difference in temperature of gas measured at below STP and that measured under standard conditions is marginal in a domestic property ,nevertheless the energy content is greater in a ficed volume of gas of lower temperature.

Lead..yes i am well skilled in the art of Gas and water lead works although of course i am also up to speed with modern piping technologies.

I wouldnt dream of using self cleaning flux when installing a modern heating system.

Of course i dont just dabble with domestic stuff.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Please help! Is this pipe going to corrode soon? Do I need to get the RGI back in to fix this (well, he is ignoring me) or do I pay someone else to fix his rubbish work?

The green needs to be cleaned off of the copper as this is evidence of the flux residue.

I always clean my joints afterwards to remove the chance of this happening. My soldering is definitely not the neatest, but I would be ashamed of this.

Personal pride in the look of the joint more than anything with me.

I have no problems with the use of self cleaning flux, such as Everflux. which is approved by all organisations.

as someone else said that is flux residue left after he soldered the pipes he should have wiped the joints with a cloth afterwards, try wiping the pipe or use abit of wire wool or sandpaper to get it off, hopefully it's just that & you will end up with clean & un-damaged pipes.

That green residue needs to be removed as it will eventually eat through the pipe work. A bit of wire wool should remove it... but I'd be worried about the inside too.
Check his details on the GSR website, if he is ignoring you then send him a letter asking him to rectify the work with 14 days. If he doesn't reply then maybe an email to Gas safe (attach the pictures). They are quite good at chasing up shoddy work and may get him out to sort it for you.

    Hi.

Pipe sleeve through wall not sealed between brickwork and sleeve.
The gap between sleeve and pipe is left open on the external wall but both should be sealed on the internal wall. Is it?

All in all, from the work you have described, this is a very poor installation and would be worth a visit from Gas Safe to see what else they might have not done on the gas side of the install.

Eg, Is there an earth cable from the gas pipe at the meter to the earth on the electrical consumer unit? (ME bond)

Personal preference is for Powerflow flux. Everflux is a bit too active for my liking.

Thanks, you know I am so annoyed by all of this. All I want is the job done well. Husband says its not sealed on internal wall. I have asked Gas Safe for an inspection, but they said they only select at random so might not be successful.

You may want to point them at this thread, from what i have seen and read the installation is appalling.
