writing for my tattoo

I agree, some areas on the back can be very painful. Other parts, not so much, but really best to start with something small just in case.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

I rememer your posts - glad to hear that things are going well for you.
Re the tattoo - my first impression was 'how fab & symbolic - a phoenix rising from the ashes'.
Then I got to thinking 'will you remember the affair every time you look at the tattoo?'
Just a thought.
Re the words - I think the tattoo is fine as it is but if you want words, the ones you're thinking of sound OK.
Will they go around the tattoo in a circle?
thanks, yes it is very symbolic and although it stems from a bad time in my life its actually about the new times i have ahead of me, before all this happened i had sort of just become mum/wife and had lost me, now i am making time to be me again, thats made me more confident in who i am and who i want to be, i always said even if my marriage doesnt work i needed to find me again, and yes i suppose some of it is to show my husband i mean what i say!! in fact i think he will think more about his actions when he sees the tattoo!! so i wont think of the affair everytime i look at it, i will think about the fact i am making it through all this and becoming stronger, which is what i needed to do anyway.
i dont need a picture to remind me of that awful time, as it is imprinted in my brain (unfortuantly);)
things are all good at the moment, the date for our wedding vow renewal is set for september 1st, i cant wait to get my wedding ring back on my finger, its felt really strange without it, but at the same time it will be a very emotional day as we are having a repenting your sins then a renewal of vows and then the rings will be blessed, so there will be tears and lots of them, i am just trying to decide what to wear at the moment??;)0 -

My first was 4hrs long on my back, the bits that hurt the most were my spine and when he was doing the tips of the wings that went close to my side, oh my god. close to child birth pain for me. lol.
I'm all for tattoos, but just think, if you're not good with pain and can't do all of it, it's going to look weird half finished. maybe try somewhere less painful first?
Good Luck[/QUOTE
haha, i know its going to hurt, i ok with pain and have a high pain threshold, i had my nipple peirced many years ago, i dont have that now though and didnt feel a thing!! ive had four kids and the pain was intense, it cant be any worse than that!! and i know many people with tattoos and most of them are right wimps, if they can do it im sure i can, im excited and worried all at the same time though;), but this will be my one and only ever tattoo and so i would rather have what i want and where i want even if its going to hurt, im not one for starting small;)0 -
Perhaps you could get the words you wanted done in some sort of other language or ancient/symbol language, like hyroglyphs, runes, chinese/japanese symbols etc.''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0

Hey, it sounds like you have gone through a lot, so nice to heard that you are feeling strong and confident and YOU.
There is nothing wrong with tattoos at all, and I really don't think social class has anything to do with it??!!! I would much rather see a beautiful piece of artwork on a person than a snobby sneer. Also, not all words blur - it really depends on the style/font/size etc.
One thing I would say is make sure you find a REALLY good tattooist ... word of mouth recommedation is the best way - and look at the tatts that they have completed - some are good at lettering, some are good at portraits, etc ... just plan ahead and enjoy (and yes, apart from a small amount of pain on the top of my spine, I can honestly say, it was a joy to have them done - maybe I'm weird!!)
I have 4 tattoos now, including wording, and they are all very special to me - I did, however, think very, very long and hard about all of them (I got my first one for my 40th) - as others have said - once it's there, it's there for life (for that reason, NO partner names!!)
It sounds like you have been through a lot - good luck with the tattoo, and the wedding vows and the future :-) xx0 -

I was just going to suggest having it in latin. Certainly takes away the chaviness
Great tattoo btw, my fella got a phoenix on the inside of his forearm when he left his ex and started his new life. Have to agree with what other's have said about the spelling. Fading happens with all tattoos over the years, the thing about writing, if it's very fine writing, it can look dodgy quite soon because of the fading.
If you definitely know that's the one you want, and have had the idea in your mind for some time, then I'd say go for itI don't think the pain is too bad, more uncomfortable and stingy, like at the dentist, I've got one on my back and one on my thigh. Fella said his phoenix was the sorest, especially the tail which sits at his wrist.

Just a piece of advice: if you're going down that route, please TRIPLE CHECK the spelling/phrase from different trusted sources before having it tattooed! You don't want to end up with the words for "washing machine" or "chicken chow mein" forever imprinted on your skin.0 -
I think if you need to hunt around for the words, then don't get them.
This is something you'll have written on your body for the rest of your life, it should be the other way around, first you discover some words that mean a lot to you and then book the tattoo when you can't get those words out of your head!0 -
Person One has made a valid point there. Obvious you've put some thought into the meaning of the tattoo.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

i totally agree, i really like the quote, love all, trust a few, do wrong to none. this really means something to me and hits the spot, it sums me up really, i am sending him all my ideas and pictures so he can properly design the finished article so will talk to him about the writing and maybe getting it done in latin and will just see what he says, as he will know better at whether it can be done what it will look like etc.xx0
