writing for my tattoo

hi all, im having my first tattoo in a few weeks am in the designing stage, i have picked what i want picture wise, but would like some writing on the tatoo and it needs to mean something. the thing is in february i found out my husband had an affair, we are still together and working on things, so far its going well.
i have always wanted a tattoo, just never really got round to it, now i am going to do it because the time is right for me, my tattoo is all about new starts, new beginnings, and rising up from all the turmoil and becoming a more confident person, so the writing i have needs to reflect this.
so far the only thing i have seen i like is a quote from william shakespeare- Love all, trust a few. Do wrong to none, but i would love to hear some suggestions from others as a really great quote could come from you all.

Personally, tattoos are just not my thing - but each to her own!

My only suggestion would be - PLEASE CHECK THE SPELLING CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU ARE INKED - a badly spelled tattoo (note - 2 ts in the middle) is just dreadful!

Don't have any words unless you are 100% sure of the spelling.

Personally I would advise against any words, unless you want to look really cheap.
After a few years they blur anyway, which looks terrible.

Really think about it before you do it, a tats one thing, words are something else.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

Nothing wrong with a tattoo and I never said there was.
Re words, some people want to look cheap and for some it just fits in with their social class and they're happy about it.

Forget the pain and just remember this thing will be there for the rest of your life, so choose wisely, pain is fleeting, a tat is for ever :D

I got my first tattoo a couple of months back – its only a small one (probably no bigger than a 2p peice) and I carried the design around with me in my purse for about 2 years. Every now and then I would take it out and have a look at it to make sure it was still what I wanted.

Don’t forget that what ever you have, you will have to live with it for the rest of your life. If you can picture yourself as an old woman with the tattoo and still like it then great! However, I know some women who have had essays written on their backs/sides/arms etc and while they look nice now, when they are in their 70’s my guess is they wont look so great and will probably regret some designs.

I rememer your posts - glad to hear that things are going well for you.

Re the tattoo - my first impression was 'how fab & symbolic - a phoenix rising from the ashes'.

Then I got to thinking 'will you remember the affair every time you look at the tattoo?'

    Just a thought. ;)

Re the words - I think the tattoo is fine as it is but if you want words, the ones you're thinking of sound OK.
Will they go around the tattoo in a circle?

i didnt think you thought anything wrong with tattos, really appreciate your input RE: writing, i didnt realise it was a social class thing with regards to words, or that it looked cheap, was just really thinking it might be appropriate, but in saying that i will know what my tattoo means and i suppose thats all that matters.

I must say, for your first ever tattoo, anything on yourside that will go over or near a bone will hurt like a mother %^&^$£. My first was 4hrs long on my back, the bits that hurt the most were my spine and when he was doing the tips of the wings that went close to my side, oh my god. close to child birth pain for me. lol.

I'm all for tattoos, but just think, if you're not good with pain and can't do all of it, it's going to look weird half finished. maybe try somewhere less painful first?

    Good Luck :D
