Food prices at the new Wembley Stadium

I have just returned from a community day at Wembley stadium and I would advise anyone who will be going there to eat and drink before you get there.
the prices of their food and drink is absolutely scandalous!!

A cheesburger is £5, hotdog £4, a packet of crisps £1.50:eek: and a chocolate bar 90p.
Drinks are even worse a small cola is £2.20

You can't buy chips on its own, I looked and looked, just as a meal (£6+)

To top it off you are not allowed to bring your own refreshments into the premises they serach you and confiscate it if they find it.
But the stadium itself is magic :j
Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

No, it was an invite ticket only thing to help them test out their security, fire exits, turnstiles etc.
They wont be offically open until they are granted their safety certificate and that wont be until after the friendly match being held next Saturday.
    Then it's business as usual.

I suppose they have to recoup all the cost overruns somehow !

Try the Emirates - on time, on budget, prices reasonable and you can take your own sarnies in too.

I saw a report on BBC News 24 about this yesterday and think it's a crying shame that our national flagship stadium is a monument to everything that's wrong with British food catering.

Customers being interviewed near the food outlets were complaining that the service was poor, the burger buns were dry, there were no serviettes available, etc. And of course those prices just take the p***.

What I found even worse was that there was nothing available for vegetarians to eat unless they bought chips as part of a burger meal for £7 and threw the burger away. This is truly disgraceful. Wembley is in a multi-ethnic part of London with tens of thousands of people who don't eat burgers and hot dogs for religious or cultural reasons.

What are foreigners going to make of it when they come over for matches and concerts? For heavens sake this is meant to be an international stadium and an advert for Britain.

I went to the World Cup in Germany and there was a fantastic range of delicious food and drink available at reasonable prices; the organisers had used the opportunity as a showcase for Germany's hospitality skills.

As a fully fledge carnivore I hadn't thouhgt of this. Good point. Wembley is the most ethnically-mixed town in UK and yet the caterers did not take that into consideration.
TBH the caterer is done by outside contractors who were lucky enought to win the contract so hopefully if the stadium owners recieve enough complaints something can be done.
24 hours on and I'm still reeling at the outrageous prices there and BBC News 24 is right the food was s**t!

I have always taken a picnic bag.................and I won't be changing my ways!
When we went to Barcelona we had a wonderful selection of food outlets.

Lucky for us I didn't want to go to Wembley after having been to Old Trafford for the last 2 England matches.

and just for the record kids are sick of Burger/Hot dog Only choices! Get some wraps, kebabs, tortillas on the menu!
