Thanks, Galaxy. The one thing that I never expected after going BR is the amount of chasing around that you still have to do. I knew that it would take time to get creditors up to speed (my credit files still aren't all sorted out properly), but I didn't expect the hassles I've had with people who do know what going BR is about. My OR wouldn't reply to e-mails until I complained to his boss, & the RTLU seem to have been using my file to prop up a table leg in some outpost in the back of beyond since no-one in the UK seems able to lay their hands on it until I start screeching. Though these entities know full well that we have legal obligations as BRs, they seem to conveniently forget their obligations to us until/unless we put our foot down about it.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

I've got to wait for the letter to see what that says, but yes I believe the 6 months gets knocked off the original 36. I've already done 12 months, so by the time the 6 months is up I'll have done 18 months. When that time comes, I'm hoping that they'll stop the IPA completely, as I know I won't be working full-time again.
I don't get my results until September, so by that time they'll hopefully come as a nice surprise.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

As far as I am aware all the cases that I have dealt with have been all fairly straightforward. It could be down to the sheer volume of work that they ORs are dealing with in London?? Having said that I had one case recently whereby the client was told that I MUST provide all information regarding the payments that my client had paid over the past 3.5 years and requesting statements etc. I asked the client to ask the OR to ring the office where I worked, to which he did. I queried as to why he would want this information as a)I had never had to do so previously for previous caseloads and b) it would take several days to photocopy the whole file, letters and financial statements etc. He then became very stroppy and accused me of refusing to give him the information that he required...I stood my ground and said that I would provide it although I had never been asked for this before, he then settled for copies of the financial statement, statement of the account and as my client had not used credit cards for the past 4 years. He then went onto advise me that it was a straight forward case and would receive an early discharge!
I have had only two that have had an income payment order. One client was ordered to pay £70.00 per month and the second one was for £120.00 per month. This was reduced further when she reduced her hours at work and as she was suffering from ill health which the IP advised her that they would then reduced the amount to Nil.
The majority of my clients have not paid anything to their bankruptcy due to either being on benefits or having very little disposable income.I love to wake up and meet the day. I think that life is not to be wasted or thrown away.:D0 -
I justread this thread from start to finish, Istarted one myself earlier today and have spent most of the day looking through yours, it is really insightful! You do seem like you are getting over the worst of it now. Have you recovered properly from the surgery? you seem to have lots going on in your neighbour hood, Im quite jelous!
I did mean to ask you - you never mentioned any more about your savings acount... Did that go ahead, if so have you been managing to save at all and if you have doesthe OR have any intrest in the savings you made whilest un discharged?
Thanks xBankruptcy Supporters Club No.1790 -

23 Aug - Well, I'm just about to do some packing. I've been spending a fair bit of time in Brighton, & it's started to feel like a second home now, so much so that if I won enough on the lottery, I'd probably stop working & move there. I've got to know the local pub, some of the locals, I can find my way around without too much help & I don't feel like a stranger there any more, which is great.
I was there last weekend for a dinner party, & I'm going back again this afternoon for 3 days as I've been asked to sing again this Sunday by people who liked what they heard last week. :j It's going to cost me next to nothing to be down there, as I'll be staying with a friend who went doolally when I suggested that I stay in a b&b - I don't like imposing on people, but she said I was being daft
. I've printed loads of lyrics (thanks, work
), & I'll run off a cd in a bit of the songs I might have a go at. I'm going to speak to the landlady while I'm there if she's about, & see what they'd think of me putting together a set & appearing there once a month.
Life has taken some funny turns for me. I spent so many years doing what was expected of me even when I didn't want to, & though I might have appeared happy I wasn't happy inside. Now it feels like there's a hand in my back pushing me relentlessly with my singing, the thing I absolutely love doing, like a cat that keeps nudging you until you move.
I got some colour copies done of my broadcasting certificate the other day, & I've framed it to put on my study wall. I think I'm more proud of that certificate than I am of any others I've ever got.
Anyway, I hope everyone here has a great Bank Holiday. I fully intend to.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."
