29 June - Managed to sell some stuff this morning at a local car-boot sale with a friend, so I've decided to spend all the readies on me. I lost a lot of my hair when I was ill last year, & it's taken forever to grow back (West Indian hair takes a very long time to grow even when you're healthy
) - the back is still very short compared to the rest, so I've decided to treat myself to a hair weave. I'm off work this week to get my assignment done, so it will be a shock for people at work to see me when I return with hair again, as they've seen me in headscarves for over a year now.
I'll put whatever money's left towards some new clothes. I'm supposed to be going to try a new club next weekend, & I can't be going there with a headscarf on, wearing clothes from the back of the wardrobe.

Good for you WDIAG. I've been meaning to do a car boot for ages (and I mean years - I found a box full of videos - remember those! - I don't think those will sell now do you? They are children's videos - my children are now 16&17 thats how long I've been saving things for a car boot! Have I ever told you my middle name? Its Procrastination.

You'd be surprised what some people will buy - someone even bought my old date stamp for £2, & a half-used box of Polyfilla went for £2.50.
As for the tapes, I sold a vcr not too long ago that was just gathering dust for £15 to an old guy up the road. I bet there are some people with grandchildren who can't afford to buy a dvd player especially as they'll then have the added expense of dvds to use with it, but who do have a vcr & would be glad to see someone still selling tapes for it.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

Hi Wdiag,
I didn't realise you were of West Indian descent; this Forum never cease to amaze me with its diversity.
Well done for sticking with the car boot sale, we tried to sell some stuff at one of those but it was a pretty hopeless affair; nobody was interetsed in works of art and high end electrical goods.:rolleyes:

2 July - I don't know how someone gets made a saint, but someone needs to sort that out for me pronto. I came so close this afternoon to losing my rag & saying some very rude words that I had to sit down for a few minutes to get my breath back. I absolutely cannot believe the RTLU in Croydon - they must have employed over the national quota of imbeciles, because I seem to always get one to take my call & give me a load of bilge.
After all the mucking about when they couldn't find my IPA questionnaire, they miraculously found it when I said that if they can't find my records they also couldn't find my signature, so perhaps I shouldn't be paying it. After repeated requests I got the questionnaire to fill in & sent it off - I chased it up a couple of weeks later & was told they hadn't received it. So I sent off another copy. I rang this afternoon & was told my caseworker was away & wouldn't be back to look at it until next week. The man told me that only the caseworker could give information & make a decision on it, so I insisted on speaking to their manager. Get this - they can't find my file again!!!
I can't believe it - she said she'd checked the worker's desk & the usual filing point, but it wasn't there. I pointed out that it was sheer inefficiency on their part, because to mislay someone's file once was bad enough, but to then have the person complain about that only for them to mislay it again was totally unacceptable. I also said that BRs are told they have to report changes in circumstances within 21 days, so it was ridiculous that I was still waiting for them to make a decision about my IPA all these weeks later. I told her that I'd be making an official complaint if my file wasn't found by the end of the week. She's told me that she'll call me tomorrow if she finds the file, & I gave her my home & mobile numbers. I told her that I might have been BR but I wasn't a criminal & I had the right to some basic professional courtesy, which includes my paperwork being where it's supposed to be, not apparently dumped in whatever spare space someone can find, & my case should be reassessed within a reasonable amount of time without me having to keep chasing it up. She's told me not to make any payments for the time being, as if that was even an option now I'm earning less. If I don't hear from her tomorrow, I'll be sending a letter to her boss confirming today's conversation (I've got her name & the name of the caseworker) & asking them to treat it as a formal complaint.
Thank goodness I'm planning to get my hair done tomorrow. The way these people are trying my patience, I'd have probably ended up pulling loads of it out from sheer frustration. :mad:BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."
