THIS!
We went for duck because we liked it.
We decided to mention on the invites that the main was Duck to give people the choice.
4 meat eaters went for the veggie option because they didn't want duck, one of which has a rare allergy!
Everyone else seemed very happy with our choice.0 -
Mmm Duck! Oh I love duck! I always feel slightly guilty eating it though, as I think the animal is really cool and funky too! But then it tastes sooo good! :rotfl: yeah... My morals are very flexible regarding meat! :rotfl:
We r goig for what we want to. Actually, we did have to take veggies into account. I originally wanted a hog roast for the evening (my Dad actually suggested it which is a big thing as he isn't usually that interested) but 95% of OH family is Veggie. That's 50% of our guest list. I just didn't really think it was appropriate.so we r having fish n chips instead, with pea fritter option.

We're only asking whether any guests have any special dietary requirements, which will be taken into account. Other than that, we're going for stuffed chicken (its been done to death but at least we know people will eat it). OH did want beef, but people can be particular about how well cooked they want it.0

Have what YOU like! I saw a River Cottage wedding on TV last night, the couple had a veggie menu and some of the guests were sceptical, but they all loved it!!! Actually makes me wish that we were being a bit more 'out there' with our menu choices lol. Our main is lamb btw, we both love it.White_Sapphire wrote: »I have never been to a wedding where I knew in advance what I would be eating!
Me neither!!! Probably just as well too. If you tell your guests in advance, half of them will gripe and moan about it! :rotfl:johannalf88 wrote: »Mmm Duck! Oh I love duck! We had lamb for our main and we gave people a choice of either that or a vegie option. Non-red meat eaters were happy to have the vegie option and I didn't see any plates with food left on being taken away.
We just put a little tickable option box form on the back of our RSVP's and people indicated what food they wanted. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -

Me neither! Likewise I've never been to a wedding where I had a choice beforehand - it was basically 'tell us if you're veggie/have any dietary requirements, otherwise you get what you're given'.
We are probably going to have a buffet of some kind; OH wants a barbecue but as we're now looking at a winter wedding I'm wondering if it'll be too summery and if we should have a hot buffet or a hog roast instead. However there will be a veggie option if we have the hog roast or barbecue, and if we have the hot buffet we'll pick a red meat option, a chicken/fish option and a veggie option, plus salads and puds, so people can choose. And we'll also put an RSVP note in with the invites for any dietary requirements so we can plan around that if needed."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -

.
How strange. Apart from one wedding in 2011 which was a buffet meal, I have never been to a wedding (as an adult) where I haven't been asked what I wanted to eat. That's why it felt completely natural for me to ask my guests which they prefered I suppose. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
I've only been to one wedding where I had a menu choice (chosen in advance), and the others have all been "please let us know of any dietary requirements"...
We're having a bit of both - for the wedding breakfast (17 meals altogether) people have a choice of three for each course, and then for the reception (135 people - pie & pea buffet) we've just said "A supper will be served at X O'clock" and asked people to let us know with their RSVP if they have any specific requirements (I know a few are Veggie & at lease one has Celiacs disease). If anybody asks what the food is, I'm telling them but won't listen to them moaning (nobody has dared yet :rotfl: )0 -
Again, both DH & I have never been to a wedding where we knew what we would be eating except our own.
We only asked to be told for "any specific dietary requirements" as part of the invitation - we had 1 veggie and 1 gluten-free wheat-free, who organised her own needs direct with the venue's chef.
We chose our roast lamb because it was the nicest of the options when we had our tasting, and there were no leftovers on the day0 -
Hi,
I've had a mixture. We went to 2 weddings last year, one we were given options & we chose in advance. The other we found out on the day from the menus on the table & they had a grooms menu & a brides menu. The ladies all got the brides choices & the men the grooms. Both menus were good, my OH didn't like the pudding on his so I swapped, someone swapped there starter with mine - all good fun.
We are having a choice but it's different as we are marrying in Rhodes & it's normal there. We have meze for starter to be shared between 4 people & there is about 6 different things on it & then for mains 3 meat dishes, 1 fish & a veggi option. Everyone gets ice cream for pudding:DMarried the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0
