definetly swap cereal for oats, whether they be eaten as porridge or as granola, their cheaper and more filling than cold cereals and you vary it by adding yoghurt, honey, nuts fruit etc. also maybe try an egg sandwich for the protien0

I am having one fried egg and potato wedges ( 30 mins in the oven) for breakfast, with some tomato relish or hp sauce if I can get it. Eggs £1.33 for 15 (asda, tesco) potatoes £1 for 2kg /2.5kg bag lasts all week. Breakfast for the whole week = £2 remember to save dripping (fat) for the wedges. I keep bananas for teatime as they help me sleep!0

This morning I had half a tin of baked beans. 12.5p! It's not exciting though, I admit. :P0

However, I think I may start trying porridge. Any tips on how to make it?
Use a teacup or small glass to measure for one person.
As long as you use the same container to measure each ingredient, you can vary the quantity produced very easily to make for more people.
"Value" variety oats are just fine - and about 60p for a huge bag.
Follow the simple rule of:
1 cup porridge oats
1 1/2 cups of water and milk mixed (for creamier porridge, use all milk and no water)
chuck all this in a small pan, add a teaspoon of sugar or honey if liked, and bring to the boil, stirring all the time.
Hot cheap breakfast in 3 mins.
You can add fruit, jam, syrup, nuts, or a spoonful of chocolate spread to it to make it different.0 -
I also make porridge in the microwave but instead of sugar, I have it with rosehip and apple jelly which I make in the autumn from wild rosehips and scrounged apples.0

porridge - made on the hob as I find it easier than the mw (no boiling over or stopping to stir every minute) with brown sugar. Should have had foraged blackberries on but forgot I had themPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I couldn't be bothered to make my own wedges when you can get a 1kg bag from many supermarkets (got one from Sainsbugs yesterday) for 69p. No prep, no waste, and they only take about 15-20 mins in the oven. The Jacket Wedges are the 69p ones and they're yummy.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
