  • I l museli, but am not too keen on having mouthfuls of raisins/sultanas, and so I ended making my own with 'base' from the healthfood shop, and then adding stuff to make my own. This was great for a while, but time-consuming, and I found it wasn't very M/S as I had rubbish portion control when it came to the expensive, lovely stuff I like (brazil nuts; dates; dried bananas). I then tried Dorset Cereals - not cheap, and still sometimes too 'mouthful of raisins' for me, if you know what I mean.

Then, about two months ago, I had a brainwave!! I now buy a box of the Dorset Cereals or similar and a bag of the cheapo 'Swiss Style' own brand bargain basement stuff. Mixed together they provide just about the right balance of 'goodies' for my fussy palate, its easier and money saving!! Result!

    Hi
I usually have oat bran - find it more filling and a nicer texture that porridge - make it the same way though. I get it from Julian Graves but its in the porridge section in Tesco and I have seen the mornflake oatbran in Morrisons and Sainsburys and bigger co-op stores.

breakfast? Has to be porage oats - raw with cold milk in summer, microwaved for 60 seconds with boiling water in winter and cooled with a splash of milk. Every day. Good for the heart, good for the pocket, good for the figure. :D

I've never been a huge breakfast eater, for a long while I could not manage anything so early in the morning and if I forced something in I'd just feel ill. These days, when it's a work day, I'll down a glass of orange juice before I run out the door then eat a banana on the way or when I get to work. That does me and at least it's two portions of fruit down before the day's barely started.

Weekends, if I'm not doing anything, I'll get up a bit later and have sort of brunch of either just lunch food or make myself more of a proper breakfast food, like dippy eggs and soldiers or a bacon butty.
  • Cup of chai, you really need a bit of protein with that to help your digestive system. Have a couple of almonds or other plain nuts you like, or a few mouthsful of youghurt before you eat the fruit. It will keep you fuuler for longer and is much healthier for you. (sorry had my mummy head on there:o)

This morning I had sweet french toast with a caramelised banana and a slice of bacon. Not bad value considering how delicious it was, rather indulgent and similar to pancakes, bacon and syrup.
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:

Bananas are brilliant food. A medium banana contains 1.3 grams protein :D, 3 grams fibre, :D and 100 calories (:() . Plus vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E, K, pantothenic acid, and about every mineral you get in a multimineral tablet. IMHO it's the best "on the go" convenience food there is. And in it's own handy bio-degradable wrapper too!

  • I agree, I love bananas, and could (and do!!) have bananas on toast for breakfast, lunch and supper.
