We had eggybread this morning. However my favourite is stir fried cabbage with garlic and ginger topped with a poached egg - a bit odd, I know. Mind you, the kids love bubble and squeak for brekkie - it's the only way ds1 will eat cabbage.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

I love the sound of the stir-fried cabbage, sounds delish.
Breakfast for me is not normally on my priority list during the week but when it comes to the weekend, I go to my Londis and get their 99p bacon, 99p sausages, I always go free-range on the eggs so they cost more, plus if there are some mushrooms going then I'll grab a pack of them to.0 -
1 cup of porridge oats (tesco Value are just as good) around 30-40p for 500gms
1.1/2 cups of cold water
put into saucepand and gently heat stirring so it won't stick.Once thickened enough pour into a bowl and sprinkle a dash of salt on the top and pour some cold milk around the edges .
Costs about 10 p at the most and is very filling. If you still want a bit more then have a glass of OJ (I buy Tesco's value at 56p a litre).
This breakfast will keep you going until lunchtime at least and won't cost you much more than 25p
Sometimes I will sprinkle a handful of sultanas or mixed fruit in to vary it a bit ,but then leave out the salt.
Cheap, healthy, warming and very filling and takes about three minutes to cook at the most
I'm not mad keen on breakfast cereals as they never seem to be very filling and are full of additives0 -
Hi all!
Yes I love porridge but last winter started using the little sachets in the microwave (blushes). Nice with fruit-apples or blueberrries if reasonably priced.
Muesli(Mr S basics) this summer with yoghurt and fruit.
Dippy eggs and soldiers.:)
Oats and sultanas soaked overnight in apple juice with chopped or grated apple , yoghurt (fromage frais for OH) and seeds esp pumpkin and sunflower.
Oh likes toast and jam or bacon sarnies too if he can get them.;)
Take care

I don't like winter much, but microwave porridge is something I love about it! I mainly use plain old oats, plus a bit of sugar (no salt for me), water and milk, but variations like raisins, cinnamon and stewed apple can give a lot of variety.
My OH whips up very nice pancakes, I shall have to remind him of this at the weekend!Old-Style Enthusiast :j0
