DH and I are having a very MS brekkie this morning!
Him - reduced-by Mr S basics sausages (20p I think) in a sandwich (with bread that he bought so not out of my budget!)
Me - Mr A basics puffed rice with milk that again DH bought - went out of date in Nov 09 but a bit of sugar disguises the slight staleness!!
So that's my moneysaving brekkie0 -
i work an odd shift (2am start) and by 5am im ravenous (my15 min break) it wasn't so bad in the summer as i took fruit into work but as the weather is getting colder i'm finding im rading the sweet machine which isn't doing my waistline any good, any ideas for a quick breakfast on the run ?, i have use of a microwave but no fridge so nowhere to keep milk for cereal and UHT is a no-no to me0

Porridge made with water? Or porridge with a little milk powder and water added?
Make a big batch of porridge pancakes(delicious, yet healthy!) and keep them wrapped in 2s in the freezer, take out a pair for work they'll be defrosted by 5am and you can always warm them up in the microwave. You could even spread them with nutella and roll them up before putting them in the freezerDelicious!

Hi tori,
What about making up porridge with powdered milk and sugar (if you like it) and putting it into a microwavable container so that you just have to add water and microwave?
This website is great for getting ideas for breakfast: breakfastandbrunch.com and even has a section on deskfasts and breakfasts to go

Thanks for links Pink-winged, no kettle Ras just a coffee machine and microwave at that time of the morning
Porridge pancakes, Adelight would you make them the same as normal just replace the flour for ground oats?0 -
Pity, I was thinking about things like bananas with custard! Or those mock porridge packets you can buy.
I suppose part of the q is what do you like? is it a snack or do you need a decent feed?
You could take previously cooked bacon and a roll, heat them through and add some sauce, or maybe microwave sliced tomato?
or would you be better making porridge in the microwave?
Is the coffee machine free? if not, take a thermos?
Wraps and an avocado with some mayo? Or pitta and hummus and some olives?
or would a rough Spanish omelette heated up in the microwave be more inline? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
So come on Adelight....... spill the beans please. Just how does one make porridge pancakes? Pretty please with a cherry on top?Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Most coffee machines also dispense hot water, can you check if yours does that?
If so it opens up a world of possibility
