i often can't face breakfast before i leave the house. i portion up boxes of cereal and eat that out of my mug when i get to work (i can't fit a bowl in my pigeon hole). the kids all laugh at their slightly eccentric teacher eating muesli out of a cup, but it stops my belly from rumbling!

Oats, oats and oats. Ok, not that many, but having had a recent health scare started to do some reading. It has been documented eating oats daily cuts down cholesterol on a focus group doing a clinical trial by between 8-23%. Google it if you are unsure!

Yes, I have started eating them too. I am actually after easy health recipes to make to oats interesting, so found your post :)

Try making your own museli by toasting some oats sprinkled with soft brown sugar or maple syrup ,take out and allow to cool then mix with dried fruit of your choice (I use rasins ,chopped dates, and chopped apricots )far nicer than bought stuff :)

My ultimate( not very healthy ) brekkie tho is a toasted english muffin topped with cream cheese ,crispy bacon and maple syrup ,yummmmmmmm !!!!

I like lots of variety at breakfast so try to have something different everyday. Hot muffins smothered in butter are delicious and I really like nice yoghurts with granola and fruit. Eggs mushed up with butter are tasty too!
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • I like a banana sliced up, covered in plain yoghurt with a sprinkle of muesli, or some form of eggs & toast. They're the only two breakfasts that really keep me full until lunchtime!
  • Beans on toast is always a winner and very filling.

Porridge is lovely with an apple grated in after cooking. It's also good with a sliced banana. Muesli is also great with grated apple or some grapes sliced into it. In the summer I loike it with strawberries as well.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but I find a wholemeal pitta bread, toasted the filled with a generous spread of peanut butter and a sliced banana is really filling and yummy.

    Hi all,

I have a sweet tooth but I really dislike having sweet breakfasts! The normal easy things are quite sweet. I end up spending a fair amount of money for breakfast or not eating and then feeling faint by 10am, so would appreaciate lots of help from OS-ers!

    Many thanks!

I'm too idle to wash pans in the morning so I slice a couple of fresh tomatoes onto toast and pop it under the grill for a minute.
