For porridge, I use a small pyrex dish and put in half a cup of porridge(Scotts) with half to three quarters cup of water and a dollop of milk( skimmed) 2 mins on High in the microwave- doesnt stick. Raisins/dried fruit added if liked.

Invented (not by me I hasten to add) for kids who wont eat breakfast.

BreakfastMuffins. Just dont tell the kids whats in them.

    Oven 180C
    175g SR flour
    50g porridge oats
    140g light muscavado sugar
    2 tsp cinnamon
175g stoned prunes chopped up really small
    85g pecans
    6tbsp sunflower oil
    1 egg
    150g natural yoghurt
    1 tsp vanilla essence
    2tbsp milk

Tip all dry ingredients into a bowl and mix.
Beat oil, egg, vanilla, yoghurt and milk then very lightly stir into dry ingredients until just mixed.(sometimes use fromage frais or any yoghurt thats OOD in the fridge :rotfl: kids never know!)
Spoon into muffin cases (7 - 10) or more if you use the mini ones
Bake 20 mins or until risen and golden.
You'll love em, just hope the kids do

We have a simple breakfast but it always keeps us going until we have a piece of fruit and a cup of tea at 10:30

    A glass of orange juice

Bowl of plain oats, half a can of mandarin orange segments and topped with 3 tablespoons of home made yoghurt. Sometimes I mix it all together and sometimes I don't :D I use a ramakin dish to measure out the oats.

The oats coast 48p a bag from ASDA, the tinned mandarins are 16p (value / smart price) and I make the yoghurt using an electric lakeland yoghurt maker.

I worked out that this breakfast was 5 WW points so we stick to this now during the week.

At the weekend we treat ourselves to scrambled or poached eggs on toast :D
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

i have about the same as well, I'm not a big breakfast person. I have grapes with yogurt poured over. Keeps me going for most of the morning, but I do do a sit down office job. :o
  • I don't think you can beat porridge oats, you can get a huge bag of value oats for about 60p I think, definitely less than a pound, and it will last for ages. Use 0.75 cup oats, plus 1.5 cups liquid (any combo of milk and water you want but can just use water) add a bit of sweetener or sugar and microwave for 3.5 mins. The oats contain the anti-cholesterol stuff which is very good for you and keep you full for ages. You can also mix in dried fruit, bananas etc if you want. You could eat your yog separately to this if you wanted but I doubt you'll really need it as well. As it takes a while to cool down I tend to make mine while I'm making my first cuppa and then let it cool down while I'm getting dressed etc.

Porridge and fruit is the best start to the day but oatcakes are good too.

i have porridge in the morning made from value tesco oats and milk. I pour it over a chopped banana and a handfull of raisens and what ever other fruit i have (at the moment i use blueberries from my freezer as tescos had reduced the to a ridiculously low price a few weeks ago).

In the autumn i freeze raspberries and have them. I don't even defrost the berries as they defrost so quickly when they are mixed wity the porridge.

The raisens give the porridge its sweetness...yum yum
