  • Weekdays it's usually Shredded Wheat with a handful of sultanas and skimmed milk, or sometimes a couple of supermarket own versions of Weetabix with skimmed milk and a small sprinkling of sugar (Yes I know, but I just cannot stomach plain Weetabix and don't like dried fruit with them)

Weekends it's usually either porridge (with golden syrup...added from the pot, not one of those ready made with syrup flavouring in) or seedy bread toast...occasionally there may be some grilled bacon wedged between the seedy bread toast but only once in a while :)

I can't face breakfast ever - I've never been able to stomach eating that early in the morning! I normally have cup of green tea or lemon tea when I get into work and some fruit/dried fruit at about 9 am if i'm hungry (but often I'm not). i know I should try harder :)

I usually have Lidl luxury muesli which I add porridge oats to stretch it out as it is so rich.

After reading this thread last night I decided to have porridge for breakfast. I always have porridge oats in for making flapjacks so it was a first for me eating them for breakfast. I heated it up with milk in the microwave and then added sugar and sultanas...yum. Guess what I'm having for breakfast tomorrow?:D

My fave at the moment is Total 0% yoghurt with fresh blueberries; a bit expensive, but considering I was spending £3/day on a stuffed croissant ...

If I have the time, I love poached eggs on toast, or marmite toast ... or toasted teacakes with butter. I also like porridge made with semi-skimmed milk and a teaspoon of maple syrup.

Yup, I sometimes had the chopped egg in a cup - loved it.

I love the toast my homemade bread makes and I find it hard to resist. I like it with cheese and tomatoes, the marmelade I made out of shrivelled oranges, lemons and apples. It is the best ever.

I like porridge but made with water and I have brown sugar or syrup on it.

I also like a banana, and I often have tinned pears.

I also like tinned tomatoes on toast and scrambled egg on toast.
  • On my quest to be thinner/healthier and more mse, I am looking for some breakfast ideas that will last me to lunch :)

I find now I am at home (with access to kitchen cupboards) with my dd i spend all day raiding the biscuit jar or worse the crisps cupboard.

OH tells me just to stop buying treats so they won't be there but i find that i end up doing an emergency supermarket run mid week for snacks :rotfl: and then spend on other things we don't need.

Does anyone have any ideas for very filling breakfasts (preferably cheap and home made).

    Thanks in advance

Porridge / Porage - can never get the spelling right

"Porridge is a natural food and is best known as a good source of fibre that helps keep your digestive system in good working order. But oats contain a particular type of fibre that is also helpful in lowering blood cholesterol as part of a healthy diet. It has other advantages too, for example, it is a low calorie breakfast and will be a popular choice as new year resolutions to lose weight take hold. It is also low in salt and, when made on milk, is a good source of calcium too. So if you have high blood pressure, porridge is an ideal breakfast choice as many of the cold cereals are high in salt. Porridge has another plus in that not only is it good for your heart and ideal if trying to lose weight or if you have high blood pressure, but the energy it contains is released slowly. This makes it especially suitable at breakfast for those who have very busy work schedules with little time for breaks or snacks mid-morning - so, whether you are a new Mum (or an 'old' Mum) or work in a busy office, the steady release of energy throughout the morning from oats and porridge will suit your needs perfectly"

I have 1tsp of sunflower seeds,1tsp of pumpkin seeds,2tsps wheatgerm mixed together with any plain yoghurt. This started when I was following a funny diet and has continued since. It fills me up til lunch unlike porridge which only lasts til 11. You can mill the seeds if you want to save time chewing too!!! and alter the quantity.Lovely.
    Good Luck
