    thanks everyone

i will give all the suggestions a try and see which ones fill me up best :)

Try a boiled egg on toast, followed by a medium size banana, and/or a small low fat yoghourt/fromage frais.

;) Felines are my favourite ;)

Following the "egg on toast" theme, don't forget good old scrambled egg. And on the weekend, as a reward for being so good during the week, make it extra special by mixing in some bits of smoked salmon.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

Another vote for porridge here and I sprinkle a little cinnamon on mine as it adds flavour and a little sweetness without having to resort to sugar or syrup. Also cinnamon I believe is good for you too.

Not a porridge lover, so I am in the "egg camp" here. :D

My favourite for staying full all the way until lunchtime is one large egg, scrambled, on top of a toasted pitta bread (Asda value smart price ones are fine! ;)) - not sure why pitta bread fills me for longer than "normal" bread?!

A large bag (1.5kg 85p) of Sainsburys porridge oats is the best value you can buy (oddly enough cheaper than Tesco and Asda!)

Wholemeal toast and marmalade plus a piece of fruit fills me up best though.

Another vote for cold porridge. I have about half a bowl of oats (I just have value ones) cover with milk and leave for at least 10mins to soften.
I have them with a tbsp mixed dried fruit, about same of sunflower seeds and a chopped up banana on (could also have a grated apple). I find that if I don't have the banana on I'm hungry about 11am (have breakfast about 7.30), but with I can quite easily go to 1pm before I'm hungry and I do quite a physical job.

You could always make Twink's Hob Nobs and mix some of a crushed one into a plain yogurt.

However, that may be defeating the object as you will be making nice yummy biscuits that you may not be able to stop eating!

I find that the most filling breakfasts are high in protein. Much as I like porridge it doesn't keep me going until lunch, but a scrambled egg or baked beans do;)

    Oat cakes and cheese
Beans and scrambled egg on rivita
cereal with lots of dried fruit and a banana
another vote for porridge but not in this heat...
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
  • I keep coming across this suggestion for a good filling breakfast - a slice or two of toast with peanut butter and slices of banana on top. I don't like peanut butter so no good for me but if you like it, this sounds very filling!

    ( I love porridge too!)
