    Mortgage-free Glee!
Hadn't spotted this thread before - loads of yummy sounding ideas! Boringly, I usually have a small bowl of branflakes/cornflakes/shreddies or similar and maybe a piece of toast with marmite. DH has the cereal plus toast and marmalade. I love staying with my brother who always produces a cooked breakfast of some sort!
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!
  • I always have porridge, although only with water and not milk.

I know, it makes me a bit of a freak............
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

you can make porridge in a flask the no mess way.
Just put a handfull of oats into flask ,cover with hot water, leave 10minutes
add milk/sugar/fruit to taste. The thermo snack flask from lakeland is great to pop in bag for work, if you have access to hot water.

    Weetabix x3

    Best breakfast ever.

Boil some milk, 2:30 mins in the microwave then drop in x3 weetabix's and mix it all up into a sort of paste.

    Yummy.

    Home made smoothie!

I keep boxes of berries in the ice box at the top of the fridge so that they keep for ages. Raspberries, blueberries and blackberries can go straight in the ice box in their boxes, strawberries need to be hulked first (pull off the green bit at the top). Throw a banana in the blender, chuck in some of the frozen berries. Whizz round a bit, then pour in a little water to help it liquify and whizz a bit more.

It's a great way to use bananas that are either not ripe enough or too ripe. Also, it's a great way to use half priced strawberries that the supermarket or the greengrocers are getting rid off. And of course blackberries, in season, are there for the picking.

And I don't bother with a smoothie maker (overpriced and fiddly to clean) - an ordinary blender/food processor is fine.
Yeah, whatever. I'm a grown up, I can take it...
  • For our last breakfast before returning to w*** and school, I made drop scones with maple bananas (soften 1 banana per person in a little butter. Add a slug of maple syrup, or you can add choc chips, spices, nuts).

Did anyone else have chopped up egg in a cup when they were little? :D Mum used to literally chop an egg into teeny pieces, mix butter and black pepper in and serve with soldiers. (had to be in a cup :))

Yes, I used to have this a lot when I was little, it was my Dad's speciality! I'd forgotten about it, must have one this weekend!
Usually I just have toast and a mug of tea, sometimes muesli. I find that if I have other cereals they make me hungrier mid-morning for some reason. My DDs always have cereal and juice.
Porridge is one food I can't stomach for some reason, the smell and texture make me gag! S'pose muesli is the next best thing.

If I have the time and/or can be *rs*d, breakfast is usually marmalade or Marmite on toast and a mug of instant Nescafe.

However, my "breakfast to impress" is fresh orange juice, scrambled egg with smoked salmon bits on wholemeal toast and fresh coffee.

Normally either mueslie or porridge, topped up with a banana and something like kiwi or berries. Yum.

Or with a bad hang over - bacon, egg, sausages, tomatoes and toast! Fried egg of course. Had that on new years day! Worked a treat with plenty of tea.
