I've only bought stuff from ebay, never sold but I would never demand a refund on the P&P. I know P&P means postage AND packing and it costs the seller to buy all the envelopes, bubble wrap etc. I did have one lovely seller who sent me a refund of P&P because the postage was considerably less than advertised. But he did that of his own free will, bless him.

Thank you. That's what I'm talking about. I would never ask another seller for a refund on the P&P charges either. Once or twice I'll send an updated invoice after a buyer has won an item if I think it's going to cost considerably less for me to pack and post it, but other than that I've set the P&P prices like that for a reason. :o

I've been ebaying for a few years now and I seem to be a magnet for absolute idiot buyers.

I once sold the computer game 'Left 4 Dead' on the xbox 360. It had all it's instruction manuals and was in perfect condition. I emailed him after he won it and sent it the very next day after receiving payment.A few days later after he received it, he left me negative feedback for the purchase. And what was his reason for this I hear you ask? Despite speedy delivery and good comms he was not a happy bunny. He wrote in his feedback, ' I played the game but really didn't enjoy it that much.'..................I sold you the game, I DIDN'T MAKE THE GAME YOU IDIOT!!!

No one seems to bother reading the description either. I once tried to send a nike shox trainer(only the left shoe) and wrote several times in large black bold font that it wasn't a pair. Sure enough one idiot won it and went ballistic at me when she received it.

I also seem to attract these sorts of idiots. Pretty much any item I put up seems to get at least one person asking a stupid question / something that is clearly answered in the description. My favourites are the people that send me questions in languages I don't speak, then get irritated when I reply in English or ask them to speak English. Why on earth are they bidding on ebay.co.uk :rotfl:

I guess I've been a bit lucky. As a buyer, I've had a few things never arrive and always got a refund. As a seller, I've had just one case - an overseas buyer who seemed to think that sending me dollar bills would work. I invited him to send the correct payment and I would put his dollars in the package.
I need to think of something new here...

I won an item on eBay last month and went to collect, the item was glass and to big to post. Won the auction with a bid of £12.50 iirc which was a bargain as new the item costs £60.

When I got there to collect the seller demanded £20 as he forgot to add a reserve.:mad:

That's just reminded me tho I once won a brand new arm chair or £4 I realised thy d made a mistake with their listing but they honoured the sales anyway. when I went to collect I gave them £20 instead of £4 and I still felt tight even tho they were grateful as the oter 3 bidders complained they thought the sale was for all 4 chairs she had listed!

I have no problem whatsoever with sellers sending stuff recorded delivery in order to protect themselves, what annoys me is when they make it an "option" in an illegal attempt to offload their risk onto the buyer.
Yes, I agree. The sellers who offer recorded as an option and then when a buyer selects standard delivery and the item goes missing, the seller believes it has nothing more to do with them. How wrong they are!

Sending everything recorded delivery can be a false economy too.

Given some of the people using eBay (don't read the description properly, have unrealistic expectations), selling just the one trainer was asking for trouble :p

I haven't really had any major issues either - one item damaged in the post, one unhappy with condition despite numerous photos and description, one unhappy at the price they paid ( like that's MY fault :rotfl:) one I've changed my mind then changed it back again, and one didn't read the listing properly. I think that's really not too bad for 7 years and 800 transactions :D
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

  • I had a buyer contact me recently asking why they got out bidded at the last minute. The way it was written I'd felt that i was at fault! I had to explain to her that there's a website program which helps you place a max. bid on items so you can outbid other users. I'd only found this out because problem i'd experienced the same problem not so long ago.
