No one seems to bother reading the description either. I once tried to send a nike shox trainer(only the left shoe) and wrote several times in large black bold font that it wasn't a pair. Sure enough one idiot won it and went ballistic at me when she received it.
Should've told her to hop it!

A buyer left me negative feedback a couple of years ago because the blouse she bought from me didn't match the skirt she wanted to wear it with

    Oh god, ebay.

Only sell through eBay if you don't care about the item your selling. I always, always, Always prefer Gumtree or another site, sure I'll ask for less (and Ebay and Paypal don't take 10%) and I know I won't be ripped off and my reputation ruined by buyers.

When I send things I always use the cheapest signed for postage at the PO, and it includes up to £100 insurance.
Which service is that then? Recorded/signed for is up to £46 insurance and Special Delivery is up to £500 (higher if extra purchased)!

I haven't sold on eBay for ages but I always sent my stuff Recorded Delivery purely to stop a buyer claiming non-delivery.
Its not 100% safe. Getting a signature is not guaranteed with recorded. Some posties don't bother getting signatures.

As a seller I don't even give the option for postage, I send most things Special Delivery unless the value is so low it doesn't matter and even then I'll generally send recorded.

I have to say I've got a few hundred feedback and I've not had any serious problems, either as a buyer or seller. Had a few minor issues but they've always been resolved.

I have no problem whatsoever with sellers sending stuff recorded delivery in order to protect themselves, what annoys me is when they make it an "option" in an illegal attempt to offload their risk onto the buyer.

As lovinituk suggests, there is no such service. The cheapest signed-for service is Recorded, which attracts the standard compensation of up to £46.

I've had buyers demanding that I refund them 30p because the postage was slightly less than the P&P charges. I explain that the P&P includes postage AND packaging but they still demand their money back.

Never mind the fact that the 30p comes out of my pocket as eBay and Paypal have already taken their cut.

Another thing that gripes me is when I'm on eBay as a buyer and the seller doesn't update the purchase and/or takes an eternity to dispatch. Personally, unless there is a serious problem then I dispatch the same day or the next morning if the Post Office is closed. However, I am still waiting for 5 seperate items that I paid for 2 weeks ago to arrive.

In fact, I have purchases in my possession that still haven't been marked as dispatched on eBay. :o

I've only bought stuff from ebay, never sold but I would never demand a refund on the P&P. I know P&P means postage AND packing and it costs the seller to buy all the envelopes, bubble wrap etc. I did have one lovely seller who sent me a refund of P&P because the postage was considerably less than advertised. But he did that of his own free will, bless him.

Good for him! As you clearly recognise, you invariably know what the P & P charge is, and hence have agreed to it, when you buy the item. It's not only the case that it includes P AND P, some sellers also keep their price structure manageable by having standard P & P charges, regardless of the actual cost, which means they will be in pocket on the P & P on some items, and out-of-pocket on others (much like any online retailer, most of whom have a standard charge scale rather than charging the actual cost).
