  • Thank you again everyone for your comments yesterday. Have to say it really helped having your thoughts too pencakes :)

Was talking to OH about the biking trip at bedtime. I said that motorbikes are his passion, this is maybe a one-off or once in a lifetime opportunity, and he's been planning it for years from before we met, so I'm not going to stand in his way. I also said that I want him to talk to me about it, so I can get excited along with him in the planning stages :)

I honestly think that made all the difference. Yes it is totally true, but there is a part of me which will be freaking out too :( He's just not going to know about it!! ;)

I said one of the things I love about him is that when he sees something he likes and I'm not there, maybe a sunrise/sunset, scenery, or something silly even, he'll take a photo and email or message it to me so I can share it too :D I said I know he'll do that when he's away, and, ok, not that he'll be sending me a photo every half hour, but that when he gets back he'll be able to go through the photos with me and share his adventure with me :)

Oh. And this biking trip has been talked about for about 3+1/2 years, rather than the 6 or 8 I assumed when he said 'years'! Course he asked what difference would it make if the whole idea only came up last week  (there goes my first speech in the bin! lol)

I asked if he remembered the 'one thing' I'd said to him that morning (other than the fact my nose was out of joint!!), and yes he did :) I know that me and him will go on a 'big' holiday at least once (or more) sometime in the next 20 years, but he does also know that I would like to go away with him for a foreign holiday before any biking trips with his mates. We'll see what happens :p

But it was completely different approach I took (fussed about him and not poor me getting left behind) and it made things so much more pleasant!

The 'house' thing was mentioned too. I just said I would need to speak to my boss and ensure things were ok there, then sit and write all the figures down to know exactly what can or can't be afforded. I said I need to see everything in black and white before I made a decision. Watch this space! :)

I was buzzing last night when I went to bed!! Couldn't sleep for ages!!
:) I'd a fab new hair colour so a totally new look for me!
:) I'd had a really good girlie night with my friend.
:) It did me the world of good 'getting away' from OH and the girls for a few hours.
:) I would wake up and it'd be Friday.
:) Saturday morning we're (weather permitting) getting up early to watch the sun rise.
:) And me and OH out for crimbo dinner on Saturday night :D

I was on the phone to my dad on the way in to work this morning. I told him I was thinking about him a lot these days. It was yesterday 3 years ago he had stroke and was in hospital for a month. Then in May he found his oldest brother dead in the house.
Thankfully dad is in great form and he's not the type to let things get him down. He's fit and healthy (and probably overweight too!!), out working on the farm most days, and he's grateful for every day he wakes up. What an attitude! :D

Hope everyone has a fab Friday :D

  • It's crazy how quick things change. Thinking about you unixgirl :)

Absolute disaster regarding spending at the weekend unfortunately, but on a plus note, it was absolutely brilliant!! :D

Saturday morning me and OH literally dragged ourselves out of bed at about 8.20am to go watch the sunrise! It was a bit cloudy so not the best day for it (plus we really should've got up a bit earlier too :o), but we'll just try again after a more frosty night.
We went for a wee walk, then stopped off at a local hotel and got our breakfast! Basically an all-you-can-eat buffet including your tea or coffee for £6! Bargain! ;) We were both absolutely stuffed so it kept us going all day :rotfl:

OH paid for our christmas dinner out on Saturday night. Had a really good time with him. Have only been with him 18 months but we found ourselves reminiscing about when we met again!! :happyhear

Finally managed to get dad the trousers I was looking for him for christmas so that's good :) Just a few more small bits to get for presents and that's me. I've a list with me today to get it finished. Also have to get cards too! (leaving it to last minute is not me!!)

Wrote a list yesterday of the grub which is still needed for the big day. Some of the stuff has to wait til nearer the time, ie fresh veg, but will try to get the other things today.

Doing absolutely pathetically at the NSD December challenge :( Figure I should be able to get a few more days in before the end of the month. Just need to get the pressie shopping bits out of the way and that will help bucket loads!!

I get paid on Friday (over a week early), so will transfer wages into my savings account for the time being so I'm not tempted to spend! Maybe get a few pence in interest too! ;)

Hope everyone is doing ok today! Can't believe that this day next week is christmas eve!

  • Got the following crimbo cards at lunchtime...

    OH
    mum & dad
    sister x2
    all the family x2
    gift tags x24
    pack of 7 cards x2

    Total cost £7.23!!!!

There was a time when I'd have happily spent that on one card!!! :o

  • Thank you! It is def something to consider. My 3 sisters have been making their christmas cards for a few years now!! :)

Got called into a meeting there in Head Office. Possible redundancies next year :( They're saying it's an option at the minute, and they're looking for alternatives/suggestions from all staff to try to avoid it.

It's happening all over the country and nobody is immune unfortunately.

I do know how you feel HAW. Company I worked for many years ago announced redundancies the day I'd got the keys to the house I'd bought. I suggested some measures that saved my job and others for a few years but it was hard.
