  • No probs :) Its always easier to look at these things when you are an outsider looking in and feelings arent involved. I promise you I am the worst at listening to my own advice!

I think with your OH too you if you're easy going about this (whether it happens or not) it makes things easier when you want something/need something doing.

My mum never really gave my advice on spending/saving and I really wish she had because I hit 18 and went a bit crazy spending money I didnt have, not realising things like not paying a mobile phone bill would still cause me issues nearly 10 years later. Now I'm a little wiser but Ive learnt the hard way.

HAW, you need to do what's right for you but it means compromise from both sides.

Bexi I can't see the pic here, will check it later but I have a feeling its going to be funny!

As for your OH, I think little and often and remind him you're there for him not against him will help.

Guess that's tonight topic of conversation sorted :rotfl:
So true though!! I have a picture on my desktop with a few photos of me and OH. The saying on it is:

Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other,
but in looking outward together in the same direction

    Hello HAW, :hello:

    Hello Robin :D
Am intrigued to learn what kind of bike your OH rides? ..Thinking if it's something special, that could be behind his apparently irrational desire to move (to somewhere that has a garage/workshop).

Depends what day of the week!! He's forever buying, fixing up and selling, so no specific answer to that one. He used to have a SP1 which is an absolutely beautiful bike. Why he sold it I'll never understand. He loved it! So at the minute he doesn't actually have any bike at all
Would it also be a fair guess that OH is a bit older than you?

OH is 10 years older. How'd you guess?!
Anyway, re the bike trip. Are none of his mates' [STRIKE]missuses [sp! :rotfl:][/STRIKE] partners going along? ..That would be unusual. ;) Your SDs are all old enough to stay with Granny or a mate for a couple of weeks, so why not consider joining him and sharing what is obviously a big part of his leisure fun?

No partners going. They don't all have partners actually. Few singles amongst them too. It's a lads holiday through and through. I'd cramp his style :p Same with his nights out with his mates too. I (jokingly!) suggested calling in the last time for an hour. Think he was kinda gobsmacked!!!! ;):rotfl:

Think I'm so used with us 'sharing' everything, I'd want him to want to share an experience like that with me :( Hence the out-of-joint nose I'll have....

    Guilty...!! :o

Sooooooooooo true!!! Learned that the hard way. Just never felt like this about anyone so I'm scared about it falling apart. Never mind that with all my crazy head melting thoughts I'd drive him away all by myself! :(

:p Haven't we all!?! But even now we still know we wouldn't be listening if we were 17 years old again!! :rotfl:

Exactly. We're an 'us' now, not 'me and him'!!

You'll be fine HAW, you're not kids. As for the bike thing. Have you thought he's speaking out loud yet won't acutally do anything about it? My OH does this and yes, he's older than me too!

Loved up is an understatement! :o lol. He is the guy I want to spend the rest of my life with, no question. But I also know I can't be walked over and taken advantage of either. Communication and compromise all the way :D

That's what I'm hoping for! ;) As he pointed out this morning, they've attempted to arrange it a few times before but it's never worked out. Seeing the France brochure means they've started looking into it, rather than just talk about it. One step closer. Watch this space, huh?!

Honestly I'm so glad I posted here today. Know I'd have overthunk (!!) things the way I usually do so it was good to get it off my chest, be assured I'm not going mad, and also see it from a different perspective. Thank you so, so much :D

Hope you all have a great evening. Sposed to be meeting a friend for coffee. Some girlie time is exactly what the Dr ordered! ;)

  • Aw had a great night with my friend thank you :D

She's been having guy troubles too, so the 2 of us just sat and ranted for about 3 hours!! :rotfl: We both needed it for sure! :p

I've known this girl since I was 4, even though life got in the way for a few years and we kinda drifted apart, but we've always kept in touch in some small way. She texted me this morning to say 'old friends are the best ones' :)
