  • I am indeed back!

I went a bit AWOL this week. When you see my latest post it might explain why :(

Next week is a new week though, not gonna let things get to me!

How's the book going HAW? Is it like a self-help type of book? I really want to start reading more again, at the beginning of the year I was reading like a demon, got through all the Steig Larsson and 50 shades :D books in a few months.

I dont know about you guys, but I can not believe its the 7th December! Time is just flying by!

  • Yay!! :j

Just read your post... Don't let it get to you. It's really scary what some people will try unfortunately :(

Pretty much a self help book. Want to go see my counsellor again but OH keeps talking me out of it (well, the whole twice I've mentioned it anyway) Told OH I'd try to help myself first and if I still struggled then I would go and see the guy again. One day at a time! :)

Aw I love reading!!!! Just got through a couple of John Grishams books recently. Still haven't got his newest ones but usually wait til they are down in price, or else when OH can get them 2nd hand from a book swap/shop/library type thing at work ;)
Still have the last Twilight to read (I know - sorry!! :o) Wanted to wait til I'd seen the film first (which I have done) same as I did with the other books.

I know! 7th! It's crazy!! Can't wait to get off for Christmas :D 2 weeks holiday :j Unfortunately it only leaves me with 1/2 day AL until end of March though which is a bummer :( Don't have a choice though.

Easy weekend ahead I think! No plans for tonight, and OH is out tomorrow night. That may mean duvet, munchies and House M.D. Series 8 box set for moi ;):D

  • Saw both your posts now, thanks HAW. The scary thing is how normal he seemed. But then nutters come in all shapes and sizes. I was cross with myself at first because I thought I was smart enough not to be duped, but it was so extreme that I realised that there was no way I could have imagined it was all a con. He even made fake business cards, emails etc. The company he said he worked for knows about it now and they said they'd do anything they could to help if I needed it which is really nice.

I've had my ups and downs so Ive thought about seeking help. Maybe I should follow your route and try a bit of self-help first. Just out of curiosity, why doesnt your OH want you to see a counsellor?

Is Twilight any good? Ive been avoiding it, but I am getting more and more tempted.. I love crime/thrillers and sci-fi though if you have any suggestions?

15 minutes until hometime. 45 for you ;)

  • Exactly! You weren't to know! I take everyone at face value. I'm naive. And assume the best until they prove otherwise :o
That's actually really great the company have offered their support :)

I guess it all depends on each individual as to what sort of 'help' they'd benefit from most. I know already that reading a simple book can help me. My fav quote from the last book is:
10% of life is made up of what happens to you
90% of life is decided by how you react to the 10%

So simple. But remembering that really does make a difference!

Not entirely sure why OH doesn't want me to go. HIS reply is that I shouldn't have to pay someone to listen to me!! lol That's what friends are for :p
    Yes and no to that.
Yes I can talk to my friends. They listen. Not judge. Support me. Offer advice. Whatever. All good.
What they can't do is help me deal with what's going on in my head.

I could say to my friends 'I'm too emotional'. They'd offer a box of tissues and a hug when I am emotional.
I say the same thing to my counsellor and he'd say 'let's do something about it'.
    You get what I'm saying?

Some people think seeing a counsellor as a weakness. I see it as a positive. It takes courage to go get help. It takes courage to face up to your thoughts and emotions. It takes courage to face your past. Everyone has something they keep hidden.

I think OH sees it as a bad thing, rather than good. And personally I think he would do well to go get some counselling after all the drama with his ex wife but that's beside the point!! lol :)

I'm not normally a vampire/werewolf fan at all, but have to say I've enjoyed the films. A lot is focussed on the relationships, and in the 4th film a bucket does come in handy :p
I am more a legal thriller fan, hence the John Grisham books. Plus the films based on his books are fab too!! :)

Now you're on your way home. For me: 18 mins and counting!!

    Have a fab weekend :D

  • Hey!

I know its a few posts back now but the personalisation is firstly making it out of their fave chocolate (milk/white/dark), then adding sweets round the edge that I know they like and then icing their name on in a different colour chocolate. Will post some pics on my diary when I get some finished!

pencakes26 In terms or crime / thriller books I would recommend the Rizzoli and Isles series by Tess Gerritsen, or any of her books really, I can't put them down at the moment!

  • Lucky me that I was on my way home when you replied. Definitely one of the perks of my new job. They are very keen on people going home on time too, they dont want people staying late just to be seen to be working hard if that makes sense.

I do like that quote, it makes a lot of sense because really most situations (like the one with me and thats scary weirdo) are out of your control, but it definitely is about how you deal with it.

I appreciate what your OH is saying about not paying someone to talk to and stuff, but at the same time, I feel better about offloading to people who's job it is to listen, and I dont llike burdening my friends with all my worries/problems.
I've suffered from depression for a long time, since I was 14, and I like to think Ive got myself in a better place without any help, but the niggles are still there which makes me think I need a little professional advice. Its affected every single relationship Ive ever had, and I dont want that to continue.

Only 9 working days left until Christmas for me, I'm looking forward to chilling out, eating lots of food (my mum's honey roast ham is the best thing in the world) and reading lots of books. Will def check those books out Nicolula87

  • Yes it does make sense. I also know me though - I never stay any later than I'm contracted for! 5.30 and I'm out that door!!! lol :) In saying that, I'm always at my desk about 10 mins before I'm due to start. Force of habit really from when I worked in the call centre.

    Precisely! :)

Never actually thought on it like that before but that is true!! One of my best friends did study psychology at uni and I do sometimes refer to her as my own personal psychologist!! :rotfl:
I don't see any harm in getting professional help. I do think there is a benefit to speaking to someone who doesn't actually know the people you're involved with.

9 working days  Crumbs! :o

We get paid on the 21st which is a week and half early. Thinking I should maybe transfer the money into my savings account for the extra time. No harm in trying to scrounge the extra few pennies in interest from them!! lol ;)

  • I've always been one for staying later (only 10/15 mins) because its gone down well with previous bosses, but here I get told off if I dont leave on time. There's a lot to be said for getting out at 5, you feel like you can actually do things with your evenings!

I hope we get paid before Christmas, as our normal payday is 28th....but then again January will feel like a long month!
