  • Got paid today (early) so it's all been transferred into my savings account til the end of the month :D Hopefully I'll make a few pence interest from doing that too! :)

Will be attempting to get a few more NSDs in this month too. So far haven't done too great but still managed a few :o

Have tallied up all my christmas pressie spends and I think I've done rather well, even if I do say so myself!! Everybody done and dusted, and it's just the few final bits of food that we need to sort. Haven't counted it in my total come to think of it, but that's coz we've been getting bits and pieces along with our normal shopping.

My alarm is now turned OFF for 2 weeks :j Really looking forward to heading home tonight and chiiiiiiiiiiiiilling :D

Think I've the house to myself tomorrow night as OH is on his work night out. My plan is to lock the door, close all curtains, turn off the lights, turn off my mobile, and pretend there is nobody home ;):D

Hope you're all having a fab Friday :D:D:D

Seriously?! Christmas eve!! Where has the year gone??

Seemingly I'm all set for Christmas! OH picking up a couple of last minute things today. We got the house cleaned yesterday and all the beds changed. I've to clean out the fireplace this morning (:p). Heading to visit mum and dad after lunch which I'm really looking forward to :)

Had been looking for a dress for Christmas day. Finally found one on Saturday:

    252067172D3?wid=75&hei=98

It's from New Look. £17.99 reduced to £8!! Couldn't go wrong with that! Will be wearing with black tights coz it's short!! Would really need to do the whole fake tan thing coz I'm below pale, but I'd rather go au naturale. Will be taking it with me to Belfast (riots permitting) at the weekend for our hotel stay too :D

For me, Christmas is about the 'who', not the 'how much'. It'll be different this year with OH and his daughters, but I'm really looking forward to it.

I'll likely not be back online til later in the week, but hope you all have a really fab Christmas, and that Santa brings you everything you could wish for :D

    Happy Christmas!!

  • Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a fab christmas and new year period. Looking forward to 2013??

I did have a good time! It was my first crimbo dinner away from my parents , and my first time actually helping to cook crimbo dinner :eek: Thankfully, everyone is alive to tell the tale. Me and OH were very impressed with our efforts and the entire meal got a huge 'high five' from us :D

Hit the shops on boxing day but didn't get much. Oh! I lie! I got (another!) dress! This time from Quiz:

    156165.jpg

Not on sale unfortunately but decided to treat myself anyway :o

Headed off to Belfast on Saturday for our wee night. Was staying at the Radisson. Nothing fancy but you get what you pay for. Went to dinner and drinks at the Ten Square (wore my new glitzy dress!). Would definitely go back there again! Have actually been online checking out room prices coz we loved it so much! Maybe go there for my birthday or our anniversary :)

New Years Eve I went to visit mum. Bit of a full house actually! I brought OH DD3 with me. Mum, Dad and wee sister. Big sister. And biggest sister plus kids x2. Was a good wee day, although my family being my family there was just a few wee niggley things that got to me.

No idea how my budgeting thing is going. I'm all over the place with the trip to Belfast etc, but hoping to rack in those NSDs in January.

Savings with FD should be on target ok this month too :D

2012 was a good year for me, all things considered! It was tough at times, but loads of good times too! :) Thanks to everyone who reads my diary and responds. You've kept me sane!! :)

2013 has got off to a good start (except for having the cold now!) Hopefully you'll stick with me in all my ramblings and encourage me when I need it, and give me a kick in the butt when I need it too!! :rotfl:

Thanks again and here's to 2013

    Happy New Year!!

Sounds like you had a fun Christmas HAW!

Mine ended up far too costly (Spending £300+ on a bed 3 days before christmas day was not ideal!) so now its time to put my head down and make my pennies last another 26 days. Unfortunately, my credit card is going to have to be used again, but I dont really have much choice.

But despite the slow start I'm hoping to make 2013 something special and I look forward to sharing the rest of my DF journey with you!

Yeah it was good. Was good to have the 2 weeks off work, although still having to set my alarm for 6.45am for OH wasn't so nice :( He only had a few days off.

Ouch! Needs must I guess. But it was a necessary spend, rather than just a 'want'.

I can't wait to hear all your updates for 2013! You're off to a very good (and interesting ;)) start!! :)

Me too!! Was never a dress person coz I'm an odd shape (!), didn't like my figure and could never find anything that sat nice on me. I've slimmed down this past year with my walking to work, I don't cringe (as much!) when I see myself in the mirror, and I can stick on a dress and think 'I actually look quite nice!' :rotfl:

Hoping it won't take long till I'm back to work too HAW. Logged into tarot today but only made about £10 so far. I suppose better than nothing.

  • I've been off for 2 weeks. Back at work for (almost) 1 day, and it feels like I was actually only off for the usual 2 day weekend :(

Oh well. Roll on half 5, huh?! :o

Did manage to spend quite a lot over the holidays which is NOT good! :p Needed new clothes right enough so that's my excuse! ;)

Got a gorgeous navy coat in Next reduced from £90 to £40! :D

Mum had bought me a watch in Debenhams for Christmas, but I wasn't overly keen on it so went to have a look at the weekend. Found a stunning Storm watch which was £100  With discount/sales plus what was paid for the original watch, I only had to pay £32.50! :D I was really pleased with that! I've never spent more than £10-£15 on a watch before, and all watches I have are really casual, so I'm well chuffed :D
To be honest, I asked the girl in the store if it was a guys or a girls watch, to which she said either. Maybe just a sales ploy, I dunno. OH tried it on and it looked gay (He can usually get away with things like that too :rotfl:) Either way, it looks good on me ;):D

Had got the mini 'cranberry joy' handcream when I was in Belfast as I fell in love with the smell. Went back to see if they had anything bigger, and they have a pump version. Usually £8. Sale price £4. But had the 'joy card' from a magazine worth £3 so got it for £1 :D

Going on a shopping diet now :)

Actually, never mind the diets, I need to just not eat anything in January! Nice to be back at work for the sole purpose of getting back into routine again! ;)

Yes definitely better than nothing. Does it take you long to make the £10 or does it really just depend on how busy things are? If you can get a couple hours a day at £10, that's £50 a week and £200 a month! It really does add up :)

  • This is my 4th NSD for January already! :j

Met my SIL in town for coffee rather than at her house as planned. Panicked a bit as I wanted a NSD, but she paid for my coffee and bun :D This also means it's my treat next time!! lol

Have left my watch in to get a couple of links taken out. I got a quote yesterday for 'no more than £4.95', then at another jewellers the guy said they wouldn't charge anything! Hmmmmm free vs £4.95?? I think I'll go the freebie route :D

Hoping for a quiet night in with comfies on and feet up. No idea what everyone else in the house will be doing but anyway. That's my plan at least!!

Have a good evening and catch up again soon!! :D

  • I'm gonna get NSD #5 today :j

I did have to go out and get milk for work but the £1 had been sitting on my desk from before Christmas so def doesn't count ;):D

Going to SIL house at lunch for a cuppa so no spend there either :D

And picked up my watch at the jewellers where I had got links taken out - for free!! :D

Finished watching House M.D. Season 8 last night. Have to admit I cried at the last 3 episodes :o:( Absolutely GUTTED that that's the last of House!! :( Only TV show I've ever properly gotten into. Actually watched every episode and loved them all!!! :)
Will be putting series 8 onto ebay to try to get my money back (only bought it as internet too slow for streaming and my gb allowance didn't allow for much tv watching!)
Probably down the line I'll invest in the full box set and watch them all again from start to finish. And get OH to join me too. Think he was a bit sceptical when I kept talking about it, but he seen a few bits here and there and I think he got where I was coming from!! :)

Meeting this afternoon about the company/redundancies  Back later to update! :p
