A purple envelope dropped through the letterbox earlier today with an application for this card. :)
I have five stars! This doesn't mean that I know anything about any of the things I post. I could be a raving lunatic, or a brilliant genius, or just some guy on the internet. In fact, I could be all three at the same time.

If anything I say makes sense, then do it. If not, don't. Don't blame me or my stars if you do something stupid because I suggested it. I'm responsible for my own stupidity only. You are responsible for yours.

Why, I don't even have five stars anymore! Aren't you glad you aren't responsible for my stupidity?

Wow! Occupier? That isn't very friendly. >:( Mine says, "Personally delivered to ensure you receive our new credit card offer"!

They PERSONALLY want me! For some strange reason, it doesn't have my name on it, though. ;)

Do you think maybe I'm the only person in all of Britain who got the "personal" one? ;D

Sorry if I've missed anything that already answers my question....

I have an egg card that I have SBT'd to my current account and is now waiting to be transferred to a mini-cash ISA, and the rest to a ING account....

now, if I was to get the barclaycard, and balance transfer the £5k from the egg card to the barclay card (which I believe would be at 0% and free), could I then SBT a further £5k from the egg card to my current account free of charge? I am under the impression this is exactly what I can do, to avoid any charges, and to double my interest earnings for the following six months ( which is when the egg card 0% period ends) ....
    Any advice/warnings appreciated.

    Cheers

  • Hi. I owe around £4,800 on an egg loan & would like to transfer this to a Barclaycard & pay it off over a year.
Is this directly possible or do I have to go round the houses to achieve it? many thanks in advance for any answers :)

I went into a branch yesterday and had a chat with them about this. The guy didn's seem to think transferring a loan to the card would be a problem he just thought it was an unusual request.

He didn't sound to convincing but if the worst comes to the worst I'm planning to also get an egg card and transfer the loan to that (It's the only one I've found that actually states loan as well as card transfers). Then transfer from the egg to the Barclays to make the most of the interest free. If any see's a problem with this please let me know, or if anyone has had a definite answer from Barclays that sound sounds more convincing than the guy I spoke to.

He might have considered it 'unusual' because personal loans are fixed term/rate, whereas BTs are (usually) only cheaper in the short-term. But he should recognise that a LOB rate (used 'correctly' !!) is the equivalent of a personal loan.

Getting an Egg card: This wouldn't allow you to move your Egg loan directly since you can't borrow from Egg to pay money you already owe to them. Once the Barclaycard puts your Egg card into a credit (or reduced debit) balance, you can SBT to your current account and then use this cash to reduce/clear your Egg loan.
