I've got this card and want to know can I do more than one BT? I've already BT'd from my A+L card 2.3K out of a CL of 3.5K. Any chance of doing more BT's?

Hi,
Just starting to complete the form and l am wondering what Barclycards criteria are for the different types of card - platinum, classic, premiership etc. So l can judge which one is the best to go for.
Say for example l apply for platinum, if they decline this would they give me the classic without any negative effect on my credit record?Sense is not common.0 -
I have a MINT card with £3000 balance at 0% until October 2004. (Savings in ING direct account to cover the outstanding balance payment).
The MINT card is in my name with my husband as additional card holder.
Saw the Barclaycard offer, and thought, well, might as well extend the 0% period, and applied.
This time husband is primary card holder, however when he received letter from Barclaycard, his credit limit was only £550 and the customer services refused to discuss the reasons why!?
Could it be that his credit score is low since most of the credit cards, loans etc that we have had in the past have all been in my name?
Feel daft now, and wished that I had applied as primary card holder instead.
Barcalaycard won't review the credit limit for at least 6 months.
So this card is practically useless!!0 -
If you have questions about your credit history then get hold of your reports from Equifax and Experian (£2 each by post) and study them. If there are errors then you can get them corrected.
It is alleged that Barclays are offering low credit limits to make the offer cost effective for themselves (i.e. useless to customers). They won't review the limits until at least the time limit for transferring balances is past. For their part they claim they are being "responsible lenders" but I fail to see how this can be the case as I know of customers offered low limits then being given unsolicited offers of Barclays loans for much higher amounts. I find it hard to believe these are unconnected but then again I have been called a cynic in the past...0 -
Cheers Galstonian, in the process of checking with Equifax.
Do you know the title of the thread that Martin is monitoring concerning low credit limits??
I feel like writing a snotty letter to Barclaycard and telling them where to stuff their fantastic offer!!!! >:(0 -
It was "Barclaycard Credit Limit v Others"

I'm very surprised by the tone of some of the mails in this (and other) threads expressing disgust at Barclaycard not giving people a lot of free money. Can anyone who's unhappy with their sub £1k limit on their new barclaycard and on this forum explain why Barclaycard should give them £5k to put in a savings account for a year and then receive back?
If Barclaycard have a system that enables them to profitably predict which of their new applicants won't stay with them, then it seems like common sense for them to not give these people free money. And yet mail after mail complains about miserly limits as if credit (and negatively priced credit at that) is an automatic right.
As far as I know, 0% offers lose money almost irrespective of how long the period is. The sole purpose of them is to build balance to retain market share in industry surveys for company reports and results. All the profit that credit card companies make (and it's not a lot relative to the volume of staff and resource they commit) comes from customers paying interest and insurance premiums. Anyone who feels hard done by in receiving a £395 credit line from any issuer needs to ask themselves what would they expect if the issuer knew why they were asking for the new card.
Barclaycard's offer is exceptionally good for people who want a credit card to make low value purchases - Sainsbury's is likely to be better still since they'll probably award higher limits and more Nectar points (I think).
As an aside to this half rant, Barclaycard are still offering 0% for 12 months on Balance Transfers and Purchases at their Field Marketing stand in Edinburgh Waverley station - why not get a £50 train return just to applySmile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
I applied for the classic card yesterday in the end. I hope it all does through smoothly, lucky l got the email from Martin letting me know it was about to end!
Should be receiving t+c in post to sign and return within 7 days.
I'm curious as to what limit they do give me....Sense is not common.0 -
I, for one, am very happy with the Barclaycard 0% offer. Have a credit limit of £1000 which suits me nicely.
Have just had my first statement through and the best part is that my car insurance is on it. I've basically got my car insurance in monthly instalments without any interest payments.
I've always paid off my full credit card debts every month so it is a bit of a novelty having an outstanding balance.
Think I might get into this credit card tarting now!0
