    tvm ;)
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
  • I think they are inundated at the moment. Not a good idea to duplicate applications; it could lead to problems at BC plus multiple searches on your credit file.

Why not give them a ring?

I finally got the paperwork nearly 6 weeks after applying online. The reason for the second application is that there is no indication that they have received the first application, most places will send an automated reply saying they have received it. As for using the phone, then it is probable that you will have to wait in a queue as they are so busy, and increase my phone bill, defeating the object of money saving.
In contrast, I applied for a Cahoot savings account online, got an immediate email saying it was being dealt with and the accont was up and running after 1 week.

I too found Barclays are not too generous with their credit limits on this offer. My last 0% 9 month offer just ended with Abbey (MBNA) so phoned them up to see what they'd offer to move a balance back- 1.9% for 6 months (which I took, feel done now after reading velvetgloves post) But it'll do till I sort out another 0% and hey it's free money and I'm getting better interest on it anyway, so I'm still ahead.

Anyway the free phone number for MBNA Loyalty Dept is 0800 7830 1116 (it makes me laugh when they call you a good customer and want to reward your loyalty, I only had the card 9 months and it's not hard to pay them £5 a month.

I thought you had the answer, I contacted Barclaycard for the interest free for 1yr. in order to clear my MBNA card only to receive a really low credit limit which really is of little use to me.I contacted Barclaycard today and was told they had had many calls like mine today. The poor young man was very apologetic but said the more I use the card the more my credit limit would increase!!!!!.Not really what I had in mind. Don't know if
you in all your wisdom can do anything to help.
  • Just got my Barclaycard through the post after what seemed to be an age to find a measly credit limit of £460!

My monthly spend on cards is more than that!

Was hoping to transfer the full £5k and just leave it there as have a Halifax card coming to the end of the 0% period. Now I have to quickly find an alternative...

I rang them up to query it, as surely it couldn't be correct (as I asked for the £5k transfer at the time of signing the agreement) but they said it was. I cancelled it on the spot, and I suggest others do in protest (as it seems from the thread that this has been the case).

My only concern is Barclay's motives in this - are they weeding out those people who they think are just wanting to take advantage, and getting all their personal data in the process? Is it just a big marketing ploy? Did anybody else who got a low limit ask for a transfer in advance?

    Too many questions!!

Hope the rest of you get a better deal!
  • I sympathise with everyone who has got a raw deal with Barclaycard :)

My monthly fixed expenses are just under £610, and IMO it is absolutely disgraceful for BC to give low credit limits >:(

Furthermore, when "customer services" say they can review the credit limit after 6 months, wouldn't this review be after the 3 month window where we can do BTs to them ???

I got my 1st cc with BC in September 2001, and I think my limit was £2,500, it has now been upped to £4k, but I am stung with almost 15% interest for purchases :(

After reading these posts, it is so tempting to cut up and cancel my BC :D.

I want to be a good saver, but I find it difficult to control my temptation to spend :o .

    I owe £1,247 more than I have in savings :( .

As the advert on the TV says for BT, companies care more about new customers than keeping hold of the ones they already have (or something like that).

Only in Barclaycard's case they're even managing to annoy new customers!!!!

In response to the above post - if I were you I would leave Barclaycard. I have the new 0% offer to August 2005 and will leave them just before then. Go on, cut that card up!!!  ;D
