Barclaycard 0% new customer offer

I noticed my credit limit was approx one-fifth of the amount I enjoy from my other cards.
Maybe Barclaycard are trying to act responsibly in relation to debt, or, and you may call me cynical here, they are keen to get as many people signed up without the initial burden of shouldering loans at 0%.
I'm sure if I contacted BC they would say they would reappraise my status after, say, a year or so, and then probably increase my limit accordingly. Oh, at a much inflated rate naturally.

One of the worlds biggest names in Credit Cards pulling a fast one.......that sounds about right
Let's all not use our cards UNLESS they have a decent credit limit. I sure as hell won't.................and I'll tell them so. I couldn't believe someone has a credit limit of £400!!?! . It's not worth having for that!0 -
To an extent i do feel a bit sorry for Barclaycard - it took a bashing by the Sunday Times this week for leading people into debt. Yet it has launched a record offer (again was slated for that, still can't understand why) and as it's been pilliaried for pushing people into debt has reduced it's credit limits.
To be honest I wouldn't blame Barclaycard - take a read of the articles knocking it and realise there is a war against credit going on by people who expect everyone to play a game of 19th century financial simplicity. The card companies are under a lot of pressure.

It's been said here before, but low initial credit limits will only be reviewed after 3 months (and so outside the time avaibable to BT). The card can then be used for spending only, after an initial limit is raised to be of added benefit......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

This is taken from the terms and conditions on the application for the card:
3.5 Unless we tell you otherwise we will charge a handling fee, in addition to interest, on the amount of cash, travellers' cheques, balance transfers or Barclaycard cheques charged to your account by you or any additional cardholder. This handling fee will be 2% (minimum £2), or for Initial 2.5% (minimum £2.50).
Does this mean that Barclaycard will charge me for making a balance transfer? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Well I'm very happy with my new barclaycard - decent credit limit and good customer service. Which leads me to......
......I just phoned up to transfer a balance from my Egg card after using that to get the cash into my current account. As part of the process I was asked what is the BT going for, is it going onto another credit card, paying off a loan, or going into your bank account. I did a bit of a double take at this point and asked for clarification. Apparently you CAN pay into a current account (ie SBT) with the new Barclaycard, only not a Barclays current account.
So. That's as I've just heard it.

Maybe they wanted to find out if you are a rate tart so they could mark it on their records for future reference/refusals....I have five stars! This doesn't mean that I know anything about any of the things I post. I could be a raving lunatic, or a brilliant genius, or just some guy on the internet. In fact, I could be all three at the same time.
If anything I say makes sense, then do it. If not, don't. Don't blame me or my stars if you do something stupid because I suggested it. I'm responsible for my own stupidity only. You are responsible for yours.
Why, I don't even have five stars anymore! Aren't you glad you aren't responsible for my stupidity?0 -
Sent for mine. If the credit limit is not satisfactory then it will go straight back - plenty of other companies.
;DI am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0 -
