Ulster/RBS Bank problems

Glad everyone is getting their accounts back on track. I have an Ulster Bank debit card. All this has saved me money as i've been afraid to lodge any cash in it in case it disappears into the regions of cyber space. Means my son can't drain it buying music and games for his Ipod, Ipad, Ipoke or whatever it's called.0

Does anyone know how to go about reclaimining charges, my credit card limit was £350 the card was around £340 but I knew I had a bit more cash interest this month so had planned to put £25 on it and since I could not pay online or anything I got hit with a late payment fee and an overlimit fee neither or which were my fault so the balance is nearly £380. Someone mentioned you have to go and make a claim I find that a bit ridiculous."All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered, the point is to discover them."

So compensation (and I'm not talking about return of costs etc) is to be offered to customers this week. Let's see who can guess the amount that is offered to all customers.
My guess is £50.0 -
£400 - heard that from a relative of a very senior bank official in Ulster Bank. Couldn't guarantee how true that is but how nice would that be?0
-
That would be very nice - out of interest would it be to ALL Ulster Bank customers or just those who can show/prove they were inconvienced in some way?0
-
EVERYONE was inconvenienced in some way, some - probably the better off - were less impacted as they had the means to weather the storm but were still affected in different ways.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out as it is a world wide "first".0 -
Customer letter by Jim Brown on Ulster Bank webpage dated 16 July states....
Will I receive any additional compensation for the disruption?
Given the level of disruption, the recognition of the inconvenience caused to you, our customers, is now of vital importance. To this end, we've developed a range of measures that we are discussing with Regulatory bodies, full details of which will be issued shortly.
...time will tell. Little confused why they need to discuss compensation with regulatory bodies?0 -
The pubs will have some day if everyone with an account gets £400, I suppose UB have to do something to hold onto some customers and £400 is a nice bribe
If UB customers get it there will be some outrage with other RBS customers wanting similar.
Ah well, at least its only a bank having to cough up, its not as if the tax payer owns RBS or anything :rotfl:I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
£400 would be very nice - but it may well come with conditions - to try and keep the customers with the bank. It would also be a big cost to the bank - was it 100,000 customers?
If everyone gets £400 on top of any costs as an ex gratia compensatory gift I wonder how many might open a savings account in another bank, and deposit the £400 to keep as an emergency fund for helping them in case of any future disasters.John0 -
Can see that level of compensation being given to business customers. Doubt if personal customers will get that sort of amount.0
