Some don't even bother visiting the properties, preferring instead to just write and sign the forms themselves.

    LIES OF LICENCE OFFICER.

I had one knock on my door at 8pm ish a few weeks ago (I have a TV licence) & when I told him to !!!!!! off,he resorted to "OK,I'll just phone & get a search warrant"...Still waiting...:p

    Tut-Tut.

Threat of a search warrant must not be used to gain access to premises.

This is a little misleading OP.

You were not fined £275 for watching youtube.

You had a default judgement against you as you did not attend court. If you attended it should of been fairly easy to win without help from solicitors, also the BBC/TvLicensing have procedures to go through to stop being targeted by the watch squads or letters, a little bit of proactivity would of saved a whole lot of time and money
I was active, I told them I couldn't attend because I care for my disabled son. His condition means I couldn't even have taken him with me, I wrote his condition in the letter and explained I couldn't attend. So you're saying I'm penalised for having a son with disabilities?

Aye I cannot believe the court said you needed a licence to watch DVD's when even the TVLA site says otherwise.

    [edit]
Also 275 sounds very high for a licence fee fine, given the average is about £170 or so from what i've seen/heard (by magistrates and papers etc, usually including the "victim surcharge").
When I got my letter yesterday I called them and the payment office said you definitely need a licence for watching DVDs

You can not defend anything at court if you have signed the contract of confession.
You are tricked in to "signing in at court", a clever trick indeed, then the contract is produced you signed with they lying toad of a capita employee and the two signatures compared and thats the end of the case.

Probably not but your employer could more than likely sack you if you don't have their express permission to watch it.

They can sack me for many reasons. Reason number 1 would be on this forum when I should be working :)

    My letter states:

Notice of fine and collection order

    Offences and penalties

Offences and impositions 1/Use a television set without a licence
    Fine 200.00
    Victim Sur 15.00
    Costs 60.00

So in the letter I sent them where they clearly STATED if you cannot attend the court fill this in and post whether guilty, or innocent and give any circumstances. They ignored it? I also told them in the letter that what was written by TV guy was lies and they ignore it? And you're all telling me I deserve it because I couldn't go in person?

Its actually impossible to get a fine for watching youtube.

Firstly BBC would have to get your specific IP address from google which i doubt they would release, Second when they get that IP they would have to go to your ISP and TRY get information, again data protection prevents all this.

So its not from youtube. You must have done something else maybe bought a new product.
