  • Bitsy Beans- He has about 4 seizures a month, he started having them 2 weeks after we got him. He has them as a result of contracting e.cuniculi a protazoan parasite that got into his brain and has left him with lesions on his brain. This is a subject that I am quite passionate about as I feel that pet owners are not told about the risks of e.cunniculi and many vets are not up to date with current treatments and don't seem to know very much about it. Most rabbits don't get any symptoms at all but it can cause seizures, hind leg paralyisis, blindness, head tilt and many other problems and is all completely preventable with a course of fenbendazole (Panacur) a few times a year.

Sorry for boring you there (but you did ask). :) I know I have spoken about this before. Whenever I try to explain it to anyone, I feel their eyes start to glaze over! Most people don't really have any idea what i am talking about! We love him to bits though and wouldn't be without him! :)

PP Well done on the paid work! That's the least you deserve! :) Everyone deserves to get some reward for their time and effort, I didn't like to think that you were having to work so hard with no pay (but as you said, maybe it was necessary to build up customers). good for you!

Well, I'm off to put lemon on my chin (don't have any cinnamon! )

Thanks all :) am really happy about it - like you say MRG it can be a little discouraging constantly working for nothing or very little. Has unfortunately been necessary to get a portfolio built up to start advertising for actual paid work so hoping the fact I've got one from the first few bits of advertising is a good sign! Need to look at lots of ways of getting out there now (please feel free to post suggestions!).

MRG - hope your wee bunny is ok now, must be a bit upsetting to see even if you're used to it :( If you have no luck with the lemon I tend to put toothpaste on spots - tends to dry them out and take the redness down at least.

LL - great news on DS2 as well - am sure the experience will be really good for him :)

Sorry had to dash earlier and missed MRG's post.

    Hope bunny gets better soon.

Re the 5:2 - I'm sure you've probably found it by now but there is a thread on the Health & Beauty board which is very good. A couple of the posters seem to be some sort of nutritionist or something and they seem to be very knowledgeable, plus they post up links to articles etc - eg todays Daily Telegraph has an interview with Michael Mosely the presenter who took part in the trials for the Horizon programme. I think he Tweets as well so you can follow his progress and tips.

I'm doing the 5:2 but so far have not gone as low as 500 cals on my fast days, nearer 700. On my feast days I just eat normally and as healthily as possible.

As an extra I have taken the advice of of one of the ladies on the 5:2 thread and have gone grain free - with spectacular results so far. I just feel so good, better than I have for a long time.

No IBS, no headache, less back and joint pain, no carb cravings, no hunger, no worrying or obsessing about food. I have had stomach problems ever since I was a young girl and I cannot begin to say how wonderful it feels to for my tummy to be pain free and comfortable.

I'm not trying to be completely carb free - I do think you need some for energy so I'm tucking into potatoes and starchy root vegetables such as carrots, parsnips, beetroot - no tummy problems.

I think the trick is if you are reducing cals to a low level or if like Bitsy you go for the 16:8 fast, then you do need to eat plenty of nutrient dense food so you don't suffer hunger pangs, headaches etc. I think some good protein, some fats, and plenty of veg, salad and fruit.

I'm not sure how it would work for vegetarians - I suppose you would need plenty of pulses, soya etc.

My goodness - three posts today - what a chatterbox I can be at times. Time for that G&T. :D

Maman - some great chazza shop bargains there.

I confess LL there is no way on this earth that I could go grain free :o however I accept that in some part my over reliance on carbs as main staple is not helping me :o I don't suffer with digestive problems like IBS so perhaps that's why I can tolerate them better? Who know......however I concede I am not likely to ever lose my carb love affair but it is time to rein in those portion sizes. Might actually help with overall intake as I won't be overeating because I can't bear to throw it away :o

MRG not boring me, I've never had a bunny as a pet, just dos, cats and gerbils so always keen to hear more about other furry friends :D

Maman where are your charity shops? The ones by me would charge £4.50 for the trousers alone

A rather fab day today comprising of lots of walking, starting Ripped in 30 day 1 L1, visiting mum and finding both of us a sale bargain. A lovely top for mum for a fiver and a modern style slim pair of cropped trousers for me for work also for a fiver. Not bad considering they should have cost £24.50 and £29.50 respectively!

Roll on tomorrow and hope the weather is fine enough to nip out for a bike ride and long dog walks and get the washing dry too!

Well done Pod and LL on all that DIY.

I am really getting some good tips on this forum and making slow, but good changes. Having my second fast day today. OH was over (we are engaged, but don't live together yet), so I went for a shower while he had breakfast. We are renovating his house for sale, so he has gone home now to do a bit of work. I need to spend lots of time in the garden here. I think the weeds have been on energy juice.

I had a long walk yesterday evening and then did a facial and a manicure while I watched a dvd. A bit hot already for me to walk in the day, so will wait for the evening again. My weight is given me really sore and swollen feet when I walk in the heat.

fedupandskint well done on the bargains.

For the walkers: how much to do you walk in a day/ over a week. How do you fit it in with work. I love walking, but motivation goes in the working week as time is so short.
