    Well done PP:j
Have spent the day eating everything not nailed down:o
I had been doing so well but had a bad day yesterday and a not much better one today so it's comfort eating again!
H is really getting me down and I just feel so tired. :(

I was feeling that I may be ready to take the first step to getting my business together and have spent a few hours googling but tbh I think sometimes it can be a case of too much info cos I've found it a bit off putting. I've come up with a few names and I really need to get a website going (i don't know where to start!) I will do it though. I'm aiming to at least have a website and some leaflets delivered by the end of September, then I'll see how it goes from there.

No fabbing today I'm afraid cos what little energy I have is focused on the above.

    Hello Fabbers - I'm back!!!
Had a rather brilliant time in Ibiza - lots of sunbathing, people watching, reading, swimming and general lazing about. Have a nice tan now but I'm feeling decidedly podgier and more bloated than I was before I went. That hasn't been helped by having to go to Wales yesterday afternoon when I got back to pick up the dog and being force fed an unwanted chinese takeaway last night and a massive Sunday lunch by mum. Oh well, I'm back on the wagon now. Dreading the weigh in tomorrow morning but I'll be brave and jump on the scales in the morning and attempt to repair the damage asap.

For those of you that are a bit wary of going away alone all I can say is try it - I surprised myself. I wasn't lonely or bored at all - I think the length of time (4 nights/5 days) was just right though.

I need to get stuck in to some serious fabbing this week - the hair needs dyeing and trimming (the sun has made it go a strange brown/orange colour with grey roots, very attractive), some facial attention to get rid of the greasy after suntan-lotion look and some intensive moisturising to keep the tan.
Exercise wise - I've done loads of swimming and I did have 1 run on the running machine in the hotel (only 3K as I thought I was melting in the heat) but still feel flabby and untoned. So this week is "get back into serious exercise" week.

Just 2 weeks of the hols left now so I need to crack on with some school work too....

Right, there's a new series on at 9pm with that fella from Whitechapel - Rupert Penry Jones? - will have to watch in the interest of research........:rotfl:

PS Will have a quick whizz through everyone's news in a mo - hope you're all OK?
  • WW Glad you had a good time on your hol, sounds lovely! :)

I stuck to my 500 calories yesterday on the 5:2 diet (split into 2 meals) and drank plenty of water and tea to keep myself going. I actually found it quite easy during the day. I had quite a leisurely day with my family with just some gentle walking in the park. (I imagine it will be more difficult on a more energetic day!) I felt fine until around 6pm when I started feeling quite shaky but felt ok after my second low calorie meal. I still felt pretty hungry though and slightly irritable in the evening. Woke up feeling a bit low and still feel a little low despite it being a feed day! I was really hungry for my breakfast this morning! I'm glad I managed to stick to the 500 cals though. :)

Another restricted calorie day tomorrow. I was quite surprised that my partner (who loves his junk food and usually has no interest in health!) also wants to give it a try (but with 600cals). He doesn't usually have breakfast so I will split his 600cals into lunch and dinner, maybe giving him more cals in his lunch and less in his dinner as he will be needing the energy for work. I think it will help me stick to it if it's not just me doing it! :)

Flipping 'eck! How hard core are you all? 500 cals a day! I just don't have the will power. Hats off to you all!
I'm one of those people that gets headachey and light headed if I don't eat for a few hours and weirdly it also affects my sleep. I'll have enough of a job sticking to the 1200 cals after the hols let alone less:o

I have a day of sorting things out and getting back to normal on the cards - first lot of washing is in the machine (hopefully it will still dry), everything is unpacked, and the dog has been walked in the park (when he promptly rolled in a dirty black puddle and so has been bathed).

I need to go for a run later - have to get back into it ASAP as its the 5K run in 2 weeks time:eek:.I also went food shopping yesterday and have loads of diet friendly stuff in now so no excuses. I did weigh this morning and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be - I think I've put on only 1lb:T I'll be really good until Friday (normal weigh in day) and see what the scales say then - either way its not the usual half a stone after being away. I felt fatter than that yesterday though, so perhaps it was water retention/bloating? I'm aiming for another 6 lbs to go to make it a nice round 20lbs lost so maybe by the end of Sept I'll be at my goal? Sounds nice but will be hard work:o

While lying on a sunbed watching the world go by I realised how little effort some women make (men too) - now I know I wasn't glammed up to the max (no make up, hair in a pony tail and in a bikini:eek:), but I wonder whether some people ever look in a mirror? Even in the evenings when people are dressed and sort of presentable there were some sights to be seen. It made me more conscious to make a bit more of an effort even though I was on my own and didn't know a soul. I'm not talking about size, just what women were wearing and how they wore it. In fact one of the best presented ladies was very large but dressed well for her size, coodinated colours, nice jewellery and shoes, maximising her good points and disguising her faults.
If I see any of my friends or family in velcro sandals, tops and skirts in two different patterns with beetroot red sunburn and a bumbag I'll lock them up until they relent!:rotfl:

Lots of school work to be done this week so will force myself to get the books out this afternoon...better get on...

PS Pod well done on the work - brilliant news after you've worked so hard.

Bum bags - ugh. Velcro sandals - for toddlers or the disabled.

You are so right - the sun really brings them crawling out of the woodwork. I have seen such sights this last few days whilst it has been hot.

Oh dear I do sound catty, but why or why do some people dress so badly. It's not down to lack of money either, because some of those velour tracksuits :eek::eek: cost a small fortune, trainers are for walking and running and going to gym, flip flops wreck your feet and should only be worn on the beach or round the pool, cheap garish gold jewellery looks exactly what it is - cheap and garish - especially when worn to excess.

Bulging bellies & muffin tops on show - please put them away - dress to disguise them. Bras that don't fit, greasy lank hair, men who don't shave, filthy scuffed shoes, chipped nail varnish, clothes held together with safety pins, missing buttons, - there is no excuse for any of this. Like you say WW even those who need to lose weight can still make an effort.

I had a lovely friend (she's still a friend - she's just moved away so I don't see her often) who was probably 5 stones overweight but was always immaculate. She had a lovely face - looked a bit like Dawn French, wore make up, styled her hair, nice accessories etc.

Call me old-fashioned but I have a real pet hate about people walking around half naked in shopping centres, restaurants, etc.
I think beach and pool wear should be worn on the beach and around the resort.

My local Costco has a sign that asks people to wear shoes and shirts. Should people really have to be told this.

Another really telling sign I have often noticed abroad is one which can usually be found outside churches which asks people to cover up. Now I'm a confirmed athiest but out of respect for worshippers I wouldn't dream of wondering around a cathedral in beachwear.

It's a little cooler here today so I feel a bit more like getting things done. Today was supposed to be a fast day but I won't manage the lower calories today, so I'll just eat healthily and try to stick to around 1200 to 1400. Will make the fast days Wednesday and Friday instead.

    Have a good day.
  • Hello all,

Totally agree with the comments, it seems the sun comes out and dress sense goes out of the window! Mind you my sister has put on a lot of weight and does not seem to care what shes looks like and does not dress to flatter her shape! A tricky one we've tried every tactic and approach in the book to tell her!

I'd admire you all eating lower calories, I want about 2000 a day, (not sure if I need that many) though never actually calorie counted I just up the exercise or cut back if need too.

I had a fab weekend back in the west country catching up with family and friends, weather was gorgeous, got sun burnt shoulders.

Off to fitball tonight and meal planning, another 12 days till payday and about £50 in bank. (don't want to touch savings).

Friend just sent me text saying setting up her own beauty business and got me thinking, I'm a fully qualified reflexologist and doing nothing with it, ok so I need to pay for insurance and membership but other than that I could do it. Hmm time to do some research and get the thinking hat on...any ideas on marketing etc welcome! : )

Quite a long post for me! EH xx
  • WW I wanted to do the 500 cals right away as I want to do it properly and get the full benefit from it. I know that some people are reducing their cals a little more gently but I feel that if I do that then I am probably going to just give myself excuses to eat 'just a little bit more' and will end up giving up. So I have decided to be a bit tougher on myself! I think knowing that it is only 2 days a week and that I can eat what I want the rest of the week really helps from a psychological point of view. If I know I can't eat something at all, I tend to rebel against that and want it more than usual but if I know I can't have it today but can tomorrow, it's a lot easier for me to deal with! :)

I do wish we lived in a world where people weren't judged on their appearance and people could wear what they like but I agree that some people don't do themselves any favours by not bothering to at least make themselves slighty presentable before leaving the house.

Going out with really greasy hair or wearing skin tight clothes that are way to small that they are bulging out of. I think a lot of it is to do with confidence (or lack of it) and maybe not believing that you are worth looking after or dressing nicely. I know when I am feeling particularly low I don't always feel like looking after myself or making the effort (but I do try to cover up at least and not wear clothes I am going to be bulging out of!)

There was a woman on the bus the other day wearing sandals and her she obviously had some sort of fungal infection on her toenails, they were yellow and misshapen. I didn't want to look but felt I couldn't stop looking at them & felt slightly ill actually! I'm sure most people would want to cover them up if they had nails like that wouldn't they ?(I know I would!).

Anyway, I'm off to the shops to get some low cal foods (and I will make sure I am suitably attired! :)).

Bum bags aka the fanny pack in the US :rotfl: hideous invention

Velour is the devils fabric. It just reminds me of sofas from the 80's

Why is it flip flops wreck your feet? I have a pair of beaded sandals which are akin to flip flops in that they are very flat and toe posted. They look far better obviously but are they ruining my feet anymore than say 9 years of ballet and say 16 years of wearing 4" heels?!
I have no objection to flip flops not being worn by the beach I don't consider them exclusively beach footwear......

Not much fabbing, packing etc for hols to Devon on Wednesday.
Wore a wrap dress that I haven't worn for ages with leggings yesterday and felt quite good so that was a bonus.

WW glad you had a great time :)

EH why not set up a FB page, it's free and easy to spread the word about via friends and family. Good luck with it :)

    Hugs all round xxx

    quick post from me.

Sorry can't catch up with everyone but welcome back ww and great news on the paid booking pod.

I've been out of sorts over the weekend so eating has been a bit hit and miss and most of what I did eat was rubbishy. Feeling more myself today so have had a shower, slather, hairwash and style. Will paint toenails later. I've got a healthy evening meal planned and generally feeling more cheery.

Tip for maintaining suntan ww which I do every year. I moisturise after every shower with a 2:1 mixture of body lotion (cheap M&S £1 stuff) and Johnson's holiday skin. I even do my face too but that's with ordinary moisturiser. Although I've sat in the sun here a little for a top-up on the few days we've had, I've maintained my tan from Turkey in June.

CS bargains were in AgeUK but I think I was just lucky as they had a sale rail with good stuff on it. generally I'd agree that even rubbish (like well worn Primani or Matalan or Tu) is overpriced.

P.S. Size 14 jeans feeling tight today!;) That'll teach me to eat rubbish.

Great tip maman - I have some Dove holiday skin stuff that I'll use - would never have thought of doing it! Thanks!
