I did it! I finished 30 Day Shred! Yipee!

:T:T:T that's great sparkles. What next?;)

I'm sure your night's sleep will have done you a world of good pod. You've been doing so much on top of your day job lately I'm not surprised how you're feeling. Try to keep up the healthy eating, plenty of f&v.

Good to hear that the 5:2 is starting to have an effect. Anyone watching the Hairy Bikers slimming programme? They're doing really well on calorie control.

 to benefit system lizzie. I'm sure there are huge amounts of money wasted on the chaotic administration that could be going to needy people. I heard this week that ATOS were sponsoring the Paralympics:mad: what a cruel irony that is!

Haven't forgotten about fab Friday. I'm all showered and hair done. I'm wearing my SIZE 10!! jeans and a bright pink Fat Face top as Sainsbury's is probably as far as I'll get today. Will put on slap before going out. I did manicure my nails last night as promised and managed a brisk walk. Also wanted to report that after eyebrow wax (a bit thinner/sleeker than usual couple of weeks ago) I'm doing well keeping them in shape and using eyebrow pencil for definition. It makes such a difference, makes me look more awake.

    Back soon.

Maman well done on the size 10 jeans. I am squeezing into my size 14, so a long way to go!
I am just popping into say a quick 'hello'. Got back from London late yesterday, so on a catch up day today. I have been out food shopping this morning and stuck to all healthy stuff. Trying a fast day today. I tired two chemists for castor oil and Morrisons. None of them stocked it. There is a wee independent chemist in my town that was closed for lunch, so I will try that later, I bought a shower cap to keep myface out of the treatment and more mascara.

Thanks pru, I have clothes that range from size 10-14 which depend on the cut/brand and whether I'm having a fat or a thin day:D After yesterday's weightloss I'm obviously in a thin phase.

I bought my last bottle of castor oil in an Asian supermarket so it might be worth trying one of those if you have one near you.

I've done a food shop too and I'm always delighted with myself when I see how much f&v I buy (we'll skate over the wine:o).

Also did some very productive shopping in the CS: 2 Next black trousers, both smart, tailored one linen and the other usual work type. A brown & white stripey Gap top with an elbow length sleeve and a jade coloured Jigsaw cami which would look good alone or under something plus a pashmina sized scarf which is pink. £4.50 for the lot!!

Castor oil can be a right royal PITA to get hold of. You can buy it in eBay though.

    Good Morning All

Up with the larks this morning. I'm in serious decluttering mode, have just taken, some shoes, books, picture frames and kitchenalia off to the charity shop.

Garage next, going to work my way through all the diy materials, paints etc - see what can be used and what can go.

I'm loving all the extra space....

Hopefully can get the front door prepped - if rain holds off - looks a bit dodgy at the moment. Forecast looks good for tomorrow though so if I can prep today I can start painting tomorrow.

Needless to say I'm in my old scruffs, paint spattered joggies and an old faded t-shirt. Not exactly fab but I feel good.

Off to have a nice cup of coffee and five minutes with the newspaper and then get stuck in.

    Back later.

Just edited to add - found this last night via a couple of threads on the Oldstyle Board, one is called "Minimalism" and the other is "Anti-Hoarding" - great threads.

    Anyway - for your delectation - https://www.theyearofless.blogspot.ca

Its fab and I have been inspired.
  • Hi everyone!

I have finally watched the Horizon thing (I know, I'm very behind!) so now I know what everyone is talking about! I found it really interesting and I have decided I'm going to give the 5:2 diet a go. It sounds like something I should be able to stick to and the health/weight benefits sound great! I'm relieved to hear it isn't a true 'fast' and you can have 500 cals a day. I'm going to have a low cal day tomorrow, starting the day off with a poached egg, slice of toast and small banana and then I will have the remainder of the calories as my evening meal (lentil dhal ).

It will make up for a bad day of eating today anyway! I have been at home today and haven't really done anything to be honest! :o
It has been so hot! My house rabbit has had two seizures today :( so i'm glad I was at home to help him out. Also, his teeth are going to need clipping again (I was hoping the last time it was just going to be a one off!) as they are starting to grow at an angle again. I have booked him an appointment for Weds morning.

I have come up with 2 spots on my chin so I'm going to give my skin some pampering later on. I am really liking my hair at the moment though. I realise that I shouldn't really be encouraging people to spend but I have found a product that I really like and wanted to share it with you! I am using L'Oreal Mythic Oil (from a recent win) and I love it! It makes my hair feel really soft and it looks a lot healthier. You only need to use a small amount, you rub it between your palms and then put it through your hair (especially the ends) before blow-drying and you can also comb a little through dry hair. I would definitely buy it again. It gives your hair a nice shine too (although when I showed it to my partner and said 'isn't it nice and shiny'? he didn't know I was talking about my hair and hadn't noticed, so I think I'd like it even more if it had more of a shine!).

I have hardly any work next week (as most of my clients have decided to go on holiday in the same week!) so I'll have to be extra careful with money as won't have much coming in but I am looking forward to having a bit of a break!

LL Well done on all the de-cluttering! Sounds like you are doing a good job! I don't think I could ever be a minimalist, I like having things around me (but try to only keep things I use or that I find beautiful or interesting). Organised chaos is more my style ( I just need to get around to organising it! :o )

Just booked my first actual paid wedding :j Had a meet-up with them today, they're an older couple and seem really nice. She said she's been looking at loads of sites but they've either been really overpriced or she hated the photos :rotfl:Also got a meeting tomorrow with a studio to talk about doing either some part-time or freelance work for them - they do family portraits, makeover shoots and boudoir sessions. Is apparently mainly weekends at the moment, so would out quite well, but if they have regular work for me then might be able to cut down my hours at my other job. Fingers crossed there as it's driving me mad at the moment - nearly walked out on Friday as had a pounding headache all afternoon and all I got was non-stop stress and hassle off one of the bosses. Think they would get a bit of a shock as they were talking the other week about giving me yet more work to do and did I want to look into training courses for it :rotfl:
So am quite a happy bunny today, despite the fact I can't seem to stop sneezing! Hope everyone else is having a good day x

MRG sorry about bunny and his seizures, has he had them before? Hope he's OK. There's a thread on here about the best spot cure......lemon juice and cinnamon apparently :)

4th day of 16/8 and I feel good. No headaches (which may have been the endless web browsing I did reading up on different ways of eating) and its definately more in rhythm with my body. Eating breakfast definately has made me snack more.

Hope you've all had a lovely Saturday, need to have a pamper night tonight while I bath the kids :D

    Just caught this.

That is such fab-u-lous news. I am soooooo pleased :j:j:j
Well done you. You really deserve this. You have worked so hard for a long time - yesssssss!!!!!

It would be fantastic if you could build this up and then reduce your hours at your current job.

Actually my DS2 has had a bit of a lucky break with his photography too. A friend of my sister's who lives in Yorkshire and is now quite a well stablished photographer - photojournalism, own studio, goes up in planes to do aerial shots, does weddings etc has invited DS2 up to stay with him for a while and will take him under his wing.

DS2 is very good technically but lacks confidence. There will be no paid work but it is a wonderful chance to spend some time with a professional and learn a few tricks and hopefully gain some much needed confidence. I try to boost him but what he really needs is a professional to mentor him and guide him.

Well I must tell you - I'm feeling quite proud of myself - little Miss DIY here;)

Started to prep the front door. I knew it was in a bit of state because the paint was blistered in parts. Well underneath the blistered paint some of the wood was rotten where rain had gotten in. OK I thought no problem. I gouged out the rotten wood and filled the offending space with woodfiller (it was rather deep so will have to do part 2 - the next layer - tomorrow or whenever the first bit dries and hardens off).

Finished sanding down the rest of the door and filling in any little cracks etc. As I swept up afterwards (the sign of a good worker:rotfl:) I decided to sweep under the threshold to remove any cobwebs.

Shock horror loose mortar came away. I looked underneath and a whole stretch of mortar had become loose and crumbly.

I cleaned it all out - rumaged around the garage and found some exterior filler. So I promptly mixed up the plaster mix and filled in the space. Job done. I even scrubbed down the brickwork afterwards to make sure there would be no cement debris on the bricks to spoil the look.:o

Sometimes "sisters just have to do it for themselves". Probably saved myself a small fortune too.

So ladies - let's here it for the girls:D

It's a lovely evening - going to light the chiminea.

I think I've really earned my gin and tonic tonight.
