Sorry to hear you're suffering with colds lizzie and pod. I've got one lurking but am just managing to keep it at bay with paracetamol. I can't remember when I had the last cold, I'm blaming it on the changeable weather!
I'm keeping up my regular fabbing routine. Need to do my nails later. They're very long and if I don't keep them properly shaped I'm bound to break some.
:Tthose of you managing the 5:2 diet. I was watching an episode of Secret Eaters the other night and was amazed at how many calories in some of the foods. Being mindful is what matters. I'm pleased to say I lost 2.5lbs this week and I know that's down to being ultra sensible (loads of f&v and no rubbish) around the meals/drinks out I've had.
I managed a brisk 30 mins+ walk yesterday evening and will take another later if weather can make up its mind! Where we live is very much on the cusp of weather form East and West. It's meant to clear up and be warm and dry but no sign of that yet.:(
How infuriating about the train passes lizzie, hope they sort it soon. Are they just for specific journeys or would they last into September? I know it's not the school holidays but we often have some decent weather and you could maybe get out at weekends.
Not a great deal that I have to do today. I'm going to focus on a good meal plan for the week and shopping list to match. I have plenty of books to read and there's always decluttering if I can force myself!0 -

Woweee Sparkles - you go girl.
Well the 5:2 way of eating seems to be working - I've lost 3 lbs this week. The fast days are really easy - no negative side effects whatsever. On the other days I just eat normally but sensibly.
I have also cut out more or less all grains - wheat, oatmeal, rice, pasta - everything and it has had such a positive effect - my IBS is just so much better.Practically pain and symptom free, no headaches and no sugar or carb cravings.
Even my joints and muscles seem a bit easier. Have I stumbled upon a "cure" for my arthritis - that would be good. It would be beyond wonderful if I could have my old flexible bendy body back.
Well I had a nice productive day yesterday, supermarket shop followed by a garage tidy and then to the tip.
I also called into the YMCA and picked up a small kitchen table and two "Windsor" type chairs - for £15. Will give them the shabby chic treatment and they'll set off my "new" kitchen nicely.
(I will try and learn how to post photos - very soon I promise. I have registered a domain name and just need to get started on a bloggy type thing.)
It will demonstrate that the kitchen is big enough to be a dining kitchen for families. We always used it that way when the children were small - saved a lot of time and mess - saving the dining room for evening meals.
I will move the Welsh Dresser into the garage for now so that the kitchen doesn't look too cluttered. I don't want to part with it - if I buy a cute country cottage next time it will be just the ticket. I also picked up a pretty little "Windsor" chair with arms - no idea where to put it but at £3 it was too good to miss.:o
Memo to self - either stop buying furniture or start an upcycling sideline business!! I have "treasures" everywhere, in the loft, the garage, at DS1's house...... just about enough to start a shop.:rotfl:
I have decided that my next house will have to have an outbuilding for a workshop/showroom/gallery space so I can start running my business empire:rotfl:
Today I intended to do some gardening and start prepping the front door ready for it's new paint job. However, it's chucking it down with rain so I guess I'll just have to crack on with some paperwork instead. Will visit OH this afternoon. Again intended to take him out for a spin today - assuming he is well enough - we'll see.
Anyway time to start the day - will slap on a face-lift face mask whlst I have my bath.
Don't forget - it's Fab Friday - get those glad rags on and put on some slap.
Have a Fab day. X0 -
Morning all,
Sparkles - well done on finishing the shred :j I think I must have started it about 5 times now and never got to the endAm going to try again next week I think, just want to get shut of this cold first!
EH - what's aerotone? Haven't heard of that one!
Maman - well done on the weight loss :T I watch Secret Eaters sometimes - it is quite interesting how you can scoff without even noticing sometimes. There was one with a woman and everytime she walked past the biscuit tin at work she'd take one - and when they added up how many she'd have in a day she was completely shocked.
Well am still feeling cack, went to bed about 7.30 last night thinking I would just have a nap for an hour - woke up at 5am  Guess I probably needed it, though couldn't really get back to sleep again after that. Poor OH ended up in the spare room last night, apparently I was coughing and making 'groany' noises all nightso felt a bit guilty this morning.
Weighed this morning though and am 1lb down on last Friday :j - was expecting to be up tbh as though I've been trying not to be too unhealthy I haven't made as much effort with the food and haven't felt up to any exercise. Am hoping can get rid of this cold over the weekend so can get back on the plan properly next week.
Hope everyone else is doing better x0 -

Poor you. You know this sounds more like what I call a "stress cold" than a normal cold. The symptoms are similar to a normal cold but tend to linger on for far longer.
Pod - I think you are exhausted and run down. Try and take your foot of the accelerator for a while and just get some rest. Just take care and get well soon.
Well done on the weight loss.0 -
Well done Sparkles :T
LL up cycling furniture.....could do worseglad to hear no grains is having a positive impact on your health
Pod feel better soon, I agree with LL take it easy. You've been rushing around for a while now. Time to take a step back perhaps? Xxx
Not much fabbing here. Had slight muzzy head yesterday but that could have been I spent a lot of time reading and may have been eye strain. Anyway not eaten yet today, feel fine. It is pretty clear to me naturally I am not that hungry for breakfast. I have lost so far about 3lbs but appreciate that is water/glycogen.
Zero exercise other than walking lazy puppy. Just impossible to do when the kids are at home. Still off to north Devon next week so looming forward to lots of walking thenI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -

Yes it is annoying. It's a yearly pass for retired staff (OH was on railway before his illness), it was probably the last year this year that DS3 would be off in the summer with us (and eligible for pass) so it's been disappointing. Hopefully we will get some days in if it gets sorted soon. Weekends are a bit difficult with football etc, everyone doing their own thing etc but yes it might be possible to get a few in before the weather turns.
Well done on the weight loss:)Morning all,

Me too! Lets hope it doesn't last too long. H said that to me other night said it sounded like the death rattle:eek::eek: Still full of it but have slathered my chest, neck and under nose with vapour rub at night and it has helped me sleep. In fact I've had it on in day too. I know it's only a cold but doesn't it take it out of you?

Well done on the weightloss an d hope you feel better soon. x
Well we had a letter re; ESA though it's only dated til April 2012 so am a bit confused with it all it's very unclear. We are due backdated money which after all the messing amounts to exactly the amount per week we were getting when on IB so now I have to go and sort housing benefit out again:eek::mad: All this messing about to be exactly where we started, what a waste of time and money by the government! We are going to have to get advice again on whether we've had the contribution based year or not -why does it all have to be so complicated?
Haven't weighed myself yet -I might do it later -just don't want to be disheartened if it isn't working.:o
Not felt up to any exercise (apart from dog walking). Hoping to go out later if weather improves for an afternoon walk with family. Have a good day everyone. xFrump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Thanks guys,
LL - I think it's just a virus as some people I know had it last week, but I suppose constantly being on the go doesn't help your immune system.
Don't have as much on as normal this week so hopefully can have a bit of a chill out. Mind you every time I seem to say that something pops up :rotfl:
Edited as cross-posted - Lizzie hope you feel better soon too, didn't think of vapour rub actually - have been on First Defence, which I do like but has seriously gone up in price since last time I got it so it better bleeding work!0
