I am getting a bit stressed out here. Since it's my first time getting paid by my employers, I am starting to wonder, how do I know if they sent it to the right account? What if I took out too much money?

It's very very frustrating. Even if I could know if my money is going to go into the bank account I would be a little easier. Yeah I would have nothing to live on until my money came in but a little bit more comforting.

Very worrying and also disappointing, being your first pay packet after being unemployed so long -- should have been a good feeling and sense of achievement.
Why can Ulster Bank not get into my records? My statements only go back to last week so they are no use.
Don't know for sure, but I think many of their internal systems share the same data we do, and if it's not up to date or not there at all... well, they're in the same boat.

Only a guess, but I've a feeling the real push over the weekend will have been towards completing an overnight processing run by the time the UK gets to work on Monday morning. They'll be hoping that by then they'll have pulled some semblance of order together, even if there's a good chance it still won't be 100%... because once we're back into the working week they'll know their systems will come under even more intense pressure, and also they (the RBS group) will be under a lot more scrutiny. Fingers crossed nothing else breaks overnight...

As you've said, without previous payslips or a history of wages going in regularly, it's unlikely you'd be offered any cash to tide you over. And I'm not sure, unless you had any DDs going out of the account which have been missed or not covered by funds (penalties/charges incurred and so on), if you'd be entitled to any repayments either, apart from being reimbursed the cost of some phone calls to the bank (if you produce a printout showing these) in line with their "no customer will be out of pocket" statement. But you never know.

AFAIK they haven't so far said anything to commit themselves to additional compensation beyond proveable expense. For cases of financial hardship where, say, people have had to borrow money from others to get by, or for general anxiety and so on, this will be a difficult nettle for them to grasp as these fall into an area where it's difficult to expect hard proof -- they'll know if they go down that route it could be abused.

On the other hand, and with justification, there's bound to be increasing pressure from all quarters to address this in some way -- not only for their own customers but for those of other banks whose money hasn't arrived as it was being sent from the RBS group.

Could you ask your employers if they'd be willing to give you a signed letter stating their payment of £xxx left their a/c on such-and-such date and was sent to your a/c no. xxx? At least it would be something you could take to Ulster Bank to prove the money should have arrived in your account. If your employers make payments by BACS and it was due in your a/c on Friday, I'd guess it was probably sent from their bank on Wednesday.

It still may not entitle you to a cash advance (if the payment still hasn't got to your a/c by Monday), and you'd have to see what Ulster said about that -- but if some further (wider) compensation arrangement is put in place down the line, it could be something you could use then. If they wanted to take the piece of paper from you now and use it at this stage for some reason, be sure to keep a copy yourself.

Another day and no movement at all. I am waiting for tax credits from last Thursday, wages from Friday and child benefit on Saturday, my account has not changed since Wednesday.
  • Still haven't received money due from Natwest account, now causing me a problem as I bet my bank wont give me anything while I wait for them to sort themselves out

I wonder at what point a "glitch" becomes a "problem"

It's a mark of how p*sspoor RBS' response has been that it has taken the best part of a week for them to knock up a quick FAQ page and set up/advertise a freephone (or at the least standard rate) number.

    Really quite dire.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Well surprise, surprise - still no wages in my Lloyds account - I should have been paid on friday, doubt I'll get anything this week either.
My friend's DLA hasn't gone in either - it really is a disgrace and the bosses should be held to a public enquiry and SACKED with loss of all pension rights and bonuses.
  • Hi all,

Sad that this is my first post here, been a lurker for a while but feel the need to vent.

Am with RBS, like many am having extreme problems. Should have been paid on Saturday, never went in. Due another payment on Wednesday, doubt that will go in either. Have no food left, no coffee which is worse and to top it all off my electricity is run on £1 coins and I have no cash to feed it and it will run out today probably. My RBS was not open on Saturday, will be jam packed today and not even sure I can make it in, even if I did doubt they will help.

Have enough cash in my account to cover a DD due out tomorrow, even that is doubtful whether it will get paid. The irony is that it is for O2 monthly contract, and if they don't get paid will probably cut me off then I won't even be able to ring RBS to complain.

    Life is great....
