Hoxton £1 Room Sale - starts at noon on June 26

I didn't notice the dates were wrong when I booked. I knew which date I was after and went straight to it. Will have to double check when i get my confirmation e-mail but i'm pretty sure i have got what i was after.

The point is you were screwed if your date had gone as you didnt have time to click an alternative before they were greyed out.

Agreed, but that's the luck of the draw.
Someone had already chosen your alternative date.

I did get one of the £1 rooms once. The next time I got a £24 room.

Haven't got anything the last 3 times it has run though.

I got one, second time I've managed that in their sales. The questions were very easy and took less than 10 seconds, then after entering name and email address it was just a case of clicking the date I wanted. I went straight for the end of September (wedding anniversary) and clicked 29th September. It then confirmed I had a room and gave me the PayPal link to pay the £1.

Like others, I noticed the dates/days in the calendar were incorrect. It reckoned 29th September is a Thursday when it's actually a Saturday.

I've got my PayPal confirmation email but nothing from The Hoxton yet.

never ever got a £1 room but was lucky with the 2p Tune hotel rooms a while back!

I think it IS possible IF ;

1/ You KNEW ALL the answers to all 4 questions ( WITHOUT Googling any! )

2/ You are a SUPER FAST typer , and

3/ You clicked quickly on ANY random date

I just wish I knew all the answers , was a mega fast typer and even got to a booking page in time! lol

480 rooms is not alot as there are THOUSANDS of people online all at once trying to get them & it IS fastest finger first , but am rubbish at them things when it means typing like a pro

With the Tune hotels thing I was just lucky with the random dates I chose like wednesdays and thursdays as most people were after fri's and sat's!!

Its fun if you get one LOL

It seems like quite a few people have stayed there before in the sale and got a room this time around too. It's a shame the hotel does not give people who have not had a chance to stay before (but keep trying every year) a chance. Guess it's just pot luck. Don't think I am very lucky.

I did manage to get one.

Fast typing, knew the answers, not fussy about the date, and got the first thing I clicked.

Is it a publicity stunt? Of course.
Is it a scam? No - it's a basic case of supply and demand. Lots of demand for 500 places - it's much like buying Glastonbury/Olympic tickets (or any other oversubscribed event)... Frustrating, but fair. How else could you deal with something like this quickly, and efficiently (given that a write-in ballot a la Wimbledon, is overkill for 500 rooms at the inn!)
