  • WARNING: AQUA CARD seems to be exclusively for those with average to low credit scores.

Just received the standard rejection letter and I quote "We then calculate points that relate to each piece of this information. If the total score falls below a certain level, we may turn down the application - which is what happened in your case."

They then give the contact info for Experian.

Within the past 12 months did check my Experian credit record which was flawless and they gave me a credit score of 999 out of 1000! I think only God gets 1000!

So I strongly believe AQUA are ACTIVELY Rejecting people with great credit scores. I do feel they should be putting this out on their web site instead of wasting peoples time and effort and potentially damaging peoples credit scores with a rejection! Very annoyed with AQUA - FSA should get involved.

    Not exclusively.
I have a very good report, good income, good history and got the card.

They are entitled to chose although I understand it's very frustrating.
Do you have any figures to support your allegations, although they are perfectly entitled to reject or are you just having a bit of a rant?

Not having a go, just wondering what evidence you have :-)

Never checked my score (it's a useless number), but never missed a payment, never defaulted, etc, got around 10K on various credit cards and was accepted for the Aqua card. I know I've had 2 other credit checks for various products in the same month as the Aqua card. I don't know if this went against or for me. Got a £500 limit on this one that seems to be about the norm.

I recieved my card today and have changed the PIN, quite a nice looking card much nicer than the Vanquis I've had in the past, looks very similar to a Barclaycard.

The T&Cs say that you can apply for a credit limit increase after 3 months of usage.

The girl on the phone was very helpful in setting up a DD for me.

Got to disagree - but like any automated computer process there can seem no logical explanation. Not a lot you can do.

I have been accepted for an Aqua card with a whopping £500 limit :rotfl: No adverse credit history and I have several credit cards which are typically harder to qualify for - including HSBC Premier and Amex.

Received my card today also

I'm glad they ask you to ring up to activate it, plus you get the chance to setup a DD at the same time. No real sales crap, just "I need to tell you this" type stuff.

Online services is a bit strange, you select your own username and password and as soon as you have finished registration you can login (no waiting for letters in the post). They then ask you for the same 'secret' information they asked for in the registration 5 minutes ago to 'ensure its you'. Nice that you can see your statement at any time and make a debit card payment whenever though. I'll be using that facility :)

Through the online banking, can you set up a DD there? (If you choose not to over the phone when you activate the card.)

I'm still waiting for my card to arrive, I signed and sent the agreement off last Monday.

They leave plenty of blank space so you can use a marker pen to write "Reward" on the card, should you wish :D
