You can! I phoned Aqua to ask if they would accept the PO verification. They said no, but to go into a Halifax and they will certify. So did that and sent off last Saturday. Still waiting to receive the plastic though!!

    Oh...

Serves me right for not double checking - I wish they would have mentioned it when I called them! Though it's weird they said they won't accept PO verification - I'm pretty sure the letter I got in the post said they do! I guess their paperwork is still disjointed from before their relaunch!

I have a poor credit rating though got accepted with a limit of £250 - I will probably rarely spend this much in one go though it would be a bit of peace of mind to have the £500 limit. Any ideas how long it will take to bump this up? I should receive the card soon and leave to travel on December 1st - though I read that you have to be using a card for 6 months minimum before they will review?

I have also opened a Metrobank account for free debit card withdrawals abroad and am applying for the FairFX and CaxtonFX prepaid cards. Does anyone know of another Poor Credit Credit Card (preferably Visa) that is ideal for abroad?

There aren't any others. Halifax Clarity or Nationwide Select at a push if you have a decent history with Halifax/Nationwide.

Though FairFX and CaxtonFX seem completely obsolete when you have the Aqua and the Metrobank card? A third backup is handy, but you'd be better off just using whatever other debit cards you already have (assuming you do?). Any blocks you may get on the Metrobank and Aqua cards should be removed as soon as you can call them.

    Hi all,

I am thinking about applying for this card but had a few questions that I was hoping someone on here would be able to answer.

    1. Are there any products or services which are exempt from recieving cashback?

    2. If you don't use the card for a certain amount of time do Aqua close or make your account become dormant etc and the time period this is?

It's sad that Aqua can't tell you how much cashback you have on your online statements.

    1. I can't think of any purchase that would be exempt apart from perhaps gambling sites.

    2. I had a credit card which was cancelled after it was dormant for a year, but they wrote and said that I should use it to prevent it being cancelled.

Cheers - don't suppose you know how long it will take to increase the limit?

Well as you read yourself, the website says 6 months - so take a guess!
  • My Aqua card came through today. All seems fine with it, I've ordered a few things on the internet that I was waiting for the card to order, and activated and set up internet banking.

The guy said that the limit should increase automatically as I use the card - I had it in my head that limit increases like that weren't allowed any more, but I guess I'm wrong.

In any case he verbally confirmed the 3% when activating the card.

I activated my card today too, he informed me that they review your credit limit every 6 months and will automatically adjust it.

I keep reading about having to wait 6 months for a limit increase when I was sure I had read 3 months.

I have just read the leaflet that came with the card and it says the limit increase "cannot be made within the first 3 months of the account being opened".

Hubby received his first statement today and all is well. I made a purchase in USD a couple of days ago. Although it hasn't appeared on my statement, my available balance has gone down and I got a rate of $1.5605.
