Aqua Reward Credit Card - 3% cashback up to £100/year

I have a poor credit rating though got accepted with a limit of £250 - I will probably rarely spend this much in one go though it would be a bit of peace of mind to have the £500 limit. Any ideas how long it will take to bump this up? I should receive the card soon and leave to travel on December 1st - though I read that you have to be using a card for 6 months minimum before they will review?
Yup, 6 monthsI have also opened a Metrobank account for free debit card withdrawals abroad and am applying for the FairFX and CaxtonFX prepaid cards. Does anyone know of another Poor Credit Credit Card (preferably Visa) that is ideal for abroad?
Why get more than one? Metrobank do a pretty good debit card for use abroad, and the Aqua card is also pretty useful for abroad. The only other card that I suppose you could get which is pretty good for use abroad is the Nationwide select card, which is a Visa card, but requires you to have a flex account
It also depends on why your credit report is poor ie: my report is good-average, because I'm a student, no income, no house, no kids etc... but I'm considering transferring £820/month from my main bank account to my Nationwide account every month, and then sending it back the next day
The nationwide account is indeed a visa account, but I don't see what's so wrong with having a MasterCard card?
They say you need to transfer £750 in to get the rewards for the Flex account (free travel insurance), but the card requires you to have an income of £9800. With my main bank, the card I get requires an income of 15K and I answered truthfully that I "earn" just over half that, but I guess they like the fact that I transfer a lot of money in to the bank (£820*12=£9840)

Realistically, for me it's a haggling tool against Capital One
So it's possible that you can get the Nationwide card, with a poor credit score, to use abroad, but it would take you quite some time for it to happen.
If you're going quite recently, the Aqua card is pretty good. What I plan to do is when I get to the £100 limit, send a faster payment to pay it off.
With my Capital one classic extra card, I get a £500 limit, and when I approach the £200 mark, I'll send some money from my bank account via faster payments to pay it off
At least that way you aren't maxing the card out, yet you get to spend a lot more on it0 -

Nationwide Select Credit Card is good for abroad, the Nationwide flexaccount debit card most certainly isn't.0 -

Sorry that's what I meant, but I thought that people would realise I made a mistake by what I wrote and the link I gave? Any way, I'll edit it
Also, for me, because of my locality, Nationwide have the cheapest fees for debit cards. I suppose you could say, you can get prepaid cards with no loading fees etc... but if you already have an account with nationwide, there's less hassle0 -

Well I personally link "Nationwide Flex card" to the Nationwide Flexaccount card, not the Select card! Completely different name!
Especially as the Flexaccount card used to be the best, and several people still think it is. (I do see it was an innocent mistake on your part though, I'm not moaning at you!).
Do you live in the UK? They don't have the best debit card then - even discounting all pre-paid cards. Norwich and Peterborough have a no fees card, whereas Nationwide charge 2% + £1 per withdrawal. It may be less hassle to just use your existing accounts, but that isn't really the point of the site!0 -

Unfortunately, there's no Norwich & Peterborough near me, nor a Metrobank. With the prepaid cards, I suppose you can't get your money transferred back to GBP on a prepaid card?
In that sense, with the banks closest to me, it does seem that Nationwide is the cheapest. I do however have an Aqua card on the way, and I'm hoping that arrives in the next 4-5 days, so that I can actually take advantage of it's fees
On a side note, the post office tried to sell me a card (which I didn't really want) and I gave them the excuse that I already applied for a card, and didn't want to have more searches on my account
I'd quite like it if Norwich & Peterborough and Metrobank had some branches where I live, but they don't0 -

Why do you need to have the bank next to you? The pre-paid cards you want to buy don't have branches anywhere near you - so why does the bank need to be?0 -
Just ordered one of these, cheers for the tip. £100 is better in my pocket than someone elses.0
