Hi, My partner has received her Aqua card statement and says payt in full will be taken by DD on 13/08. cannot wait for DD to be taken out. Is it possible if I ask them to cancel the DD and I make the payment manually from the bank? MS

10 days might be just enough time to do that, but it might also already have been sent for processing, so it could be that its taken anyway regardless of other payments to the account.

Why do you need it paid so urgently?

Godamm £250 credit limit I accidently went over by £2.50 and they charged me £12!!!!

I'm guessing no cashback for me now?

So bloody awkward having a low limit.

Nope, so might as well put the card in the drawer, pay off the balance and not bother to use it for the rest of the 12 month period.

So because I've got a £500 limit, if I pay some of the card off during a statement month, I can continue to spend on the card and earn cashback a bit quicker?

You might earn it quicker, but you won't get it paid any quicker, see my post #260 :-

"But you will still not receive it until after your anniversary opening date.

    From the CC agreement:-

"11.3 Cashback will be paid annually the day after the date of the first statement we send on or following your anniversary, or would have sent but for your account having a nil balance and no transactions being made since your last statement.
We will pay cashback by crediting your account or sending a cheque for the amount of accrued cashback within 1 month of your anniversary. Cashback paid will not count towards your monthly minimum payment(s)."

Applied for the card on Thursday and today got a letter saying that I have been accepted. Just have to sign the agreement and pop it in the post. They haven't told me what my limit is yet but looking at the serial number at the bottom of my forms it shows what seems to be a preliminary account number preceded by '250', which is probably going to be the limit. Hopefully in pounds not pence, of course.

I must admit though, I am VERY surprised I was approved. I have previously defaulted on several credit agreements before, e.g. Capital One, Santander and Vodafone (but all three show up as 'Arrangement to Pay' on my credit file). I do have an overdraft with NatWest though, which at the moment is in good standing, so perhaps Aqua used that as a positive thing. Plus I've got accounts with T-Mobile and O2 which are doing fine.

Of course, my finances weren't very good when I defaulted some time ago on those agreements, but now that I'm a little bit better off I think the Aqua card would be highly beneficial to me in rebuilding my score, which CallCredit's Noddle says is 1 out of 5.

Like many others have said the approval for these cards is a bit hit-and-miss but if you have defaulted on some agreements before, they seem to approve you if you have some other form of credit such as a mobile contract or overdraft which is in good standing.

As long as I pay this thing off every month, it's a no-brainer, with the added bonus of cashback too.

does that mean that if you owed £100 and they paid your cashback of £100 to your acccount you would still need to make a minimum payment for that month, even though that would mean that your account ended up in credit?

Yeah that's fine, just thinking that keeping within the £500 limit can be quite restrictive with all the household spend, so the quicker I earn the cash back I can use my other cashback card which has a larger limit and not worry about going over limit on aqua card.
