Today I received a credit card statement from aqua. Correct cashback is shown but message underneath reads "Great news - your annual cashback reward has been credited to your account this month, which is ok :o better than a cheque but I don't understand why others got cashback cheques?

This only happens to people who didn't apply for the new 0.5% card. If their account ends up in credit after the final cashback amount is paid, for example because they had paid off the card in full before the cashback was credited to their account, they get sent a cheque for the credit balance.

OH got his cheque yesterday and his account is now showing as zero.

No cheque for me yet and my account is still showing £50+ in credit. I'll give them a week or two and phone them about it. Neither of us took up the offer for a 0.5% card (already have Halifax Clarity and an ex Egg Barclaycard and were looking to simplify credit card usage anyway).

I have just called them - they say they are having technical difficulties and will receive the cashback payment via cheque at the end of the month.

    What is going on?

Just seen this in the other thread. Utter utter shambles if cheques are being rejected by banks.

Rejected or bouncing? Paid mine into Santander today with no problems.

ETA: Ah, just found the thread in question. Definitely rejected, not bounced (thought it was a bit early for bouncing). Will post here if there's any issues with Santander.

Sorry - must be having a thick moment. What thread?
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

It's the end of this thread:

    Baribil's post #19

He said he tried to deposit his cheque and the bank rejected it, and said they had many Aqua cheques being rejected, because of the Account number.

I deposited mine today, but automatically, so presumably won't hear if there is a problem till later next week.

I suggest people take copies of their cheques, and see if they can get deposited. Wish I'd spoken to a human now, rather than through the machine.
